Nothing wrong with being prepared.
Ice storm, hurricane, virus - never hurts to have a supply of basics you use every day on hand.

Found that out the hard way years back when a storm came through, knocking out power for days in the community. Trees down everywhere making it hard to get out, get around and get what you want/need.
That’s what we do. We live in the hills of rural TN where electricity goes off if the wind blows. We keep a gas heater for backup heat, a generator, and basic supplies. Starting in Fall I add to the supplies like oatmeal, canned foods, masks, dog food, and other things that will keep for a while. When warm weather comes I start using those things and reduce my stock but never go down to nothing. Since we are rural and rarely in crowds, we don’t bother with masks unless it’s flu season, flu is bad in our area, and we need to be in a crowd. We also keep them for hay mowing season.
When the next pandemic happens, and it will eventually, those people calling us names will be scrambling to find the protection they need and won’t be able to find it.
Personally I think it’s irresponsible not to be prepared to take care of yourself and your family if the unexpected happens. You don’t have to be a prepper living in a bunker to be prepared. :-)
