Speed is critical in the response to COVID-19. So why has the United States been so slow in its attempt to develop reliable diagnostic tests and use them widely?
The World Health Organization (WHO) has shipped testing kits to 57 countries. China had five commercial tests on the market 1 month ago and can now do up to 1.6 million tests a week; South Korea has tested 65,000 people so far. The U. S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in contrast, has done only 459 tests since the epidemic began.
please don't make this a "virus groupie" versus a "virus hoax" thread
I think we can all agree the CDC messed up for whatever reason

explaining all the snafus and idiotic bureaucratic reasons why the USA can’t tst for
#COVID19 infections in Americans. We are FAR behind the rest of the world. Utter madness.
Yeah Americans are dying left and right, unlike the ChiComs, who had FIVE commercial tests on the market a MONTH ago!
It’s not a versus argument.
It’s too patently absurd and ridiculous of an article and a thread to address.
South Korea doing “drive-up” testing to keep people away from each other in the E.R..

did you even read it?
just wait until they keeping finding “new” cases ...
the new Washington cases the past 24 hours and the Chicago one just announced where found because they fixed the snafu...
If this is the same publication and group, they are not without bias.

This is my brain on corona. You guys are making me dizzy.
The flu test isnt reliable. Why would a made up virus test be any more reliable?
They are just delivering the new tests, now.
It will be interesting whether there is a sudden bump up, in the positive results.
Not really - this is pure propaganda.
The negative regents were obviously contaminated or the positive test faulty and the CDC is obviously trying to figure out why.
Now if you want to question why the CDC cant use the WHO test kits or why the bureaucracy for a federal emergency auto-blocks all testing except from central command - those are good questions.
But as it stands - this is just another DNC propaganda plant article to pin the blame on Trump or Pence who failed to handle the HIV crisis in Indiana whose stories are all over the media as well and just as false.
The CDC messed up...they wanted to let states test locally for weeks to find cases and isolate but couldn’t and in the mean time people that had the virus spread it
I don’t even know why a worry troll/plant is allowed to post here.
We’re on to you.
If you read your article you know thats not how the protocol works.
They are testing exposed cases...
Not yet into general population testing !
Idiot author.
Why aren’t there commercial test kits at CVS yet?
I dont even know why a worry troll/plant is allowed to post here.
You do know that the CDC wanted to start more widespread testing weeks ago but couldn’t because of the test kit issue right
they had to limit it to people with a travel history to China and/or a close contact with a known case
Idiot author.
Unlike America, China has a plan for what to do with thousands of people who test positive, and their contacts
The Wuhan plan would not be used in America
CDC and HHS spent too much of their budgets on guns and ammo during the last administration.
I can see that the quarantine plan of locking people into their apartments and welding the doors shut would be a controversial plan in this country.
