There has never been a moment during the campaign when I have taken Biden seriously as a candidate for the Democratic nomination, let alone the presidency. Despite today’s win, his decrepitude seems to be accelerating. No doubt you have seen reports of his inexplicable ramblings on the stump, most notably, perhaps, his looking forward to appointing the first female black senator. Having served in the Senate since he was 30, Biden seems not to have noticed that senators are elected, not appointed by the president. And at least one long-retired female black senator campaigned for him in South Carolina.
But there is no point in trying to make sense of Biden’s stump speeches. He obviously lacks the mental faculties necessary to serve as president. In my opinion, he always did; but the decline we have witnessed since his retirement as vice-president makes the fact blindingly obvious. Still, let’s give Joe his due: in his three presidential runs, this is the first time he has ever won a primary or caucus. I think it may be the first time he has finished better than fourth. So today’s vote likely marks the high water mark of Biden’s political career.
Now it is on to Super Tuesday. As a Republican, I want to see as many “viable” candidates as possible to split the vote. The best possible outcome is a brokered convention; second best is a long, brutal primary fight with lots of hard feelings among the candidates’ supporters. At the moment, the second scenario looks likely, and the first looks possible.

The comparison to Bob Dole is unfair to Bob Dole, who is a smart guy. Dole got laughs from his sense of humor (sometimes perhaps a little too pointed) whereas Biden gets laughs by saying idiotic things. Dole is also a war hero.
Oh, come on, he sounds the best he has sounded in this whole campaign.

When they interviewed some of the people that supported Biden its clear they are only interested in him because they believe he can defeat President Trump. Biden is seen as “normal” and “not a bully” but there is no understanding or enthusiasm for any Democrat policy or vision for the country. How sad that much of the country has been reduced to voting based on blind loyalty to identity politicians. What a waste of time and money. This is surely not what Jefferson or Madison had in mind.

You think they REALLY BELIEVE Biden can beat TRUMP??!! What SC Mental Hospital bussed these supporters in to vote and celebrate Biden’s victory? If I thought there were more than a short bus full of Biden bots in this entire country I would spontaneously combust right now.

Good riddance. Ever since Trump got elected Steyer has spent untold sums of money for his hate-Trump campaign.
I own 6 of the My Pillow pillows. I really love them. BUT... I shouldn’t gripe about his commercials, he is a very successful conservative who worked hard to succeed.
Steyer and Bloomberg are different stories!
Well Steyer’s like Bloom in that respect...they both dislike Trump and could see the Dems candidates aren’t the ideal to win against Trump...so they jumped in. Frankly both as Businessmen at least they could say they were successful.
