I look for him to correct the lies being spread, started by Mini Mike, about the Trump administration gutting the CDC and destroying the country’s ability to ward off pandemics, etc.

It’s tricky. On one hand, no one wants to see a President micromanging ala Carter, but on the other hand, he should appear to be on top of the issue.
I will bet this person was very elderly OR had a comprised immune system!! Possibly undergoing Chemotherapy, HIV positive OR part of the HUGE homeless population IN WA..

I have been saying since the start: This is not going to kill you. It probably won’t make you very sick.
But it will impact you. Clearly, supply chain disruption is one thing. The second is the cultural impact due to behavior changes.
What is concerning are the people who do not understand they are not going to die. Equally concerning are those making comparisons of a flu throughout a six mo th timeframe to a new, unknown virus that has been on our shores for two weeks.
What is equally concerning is the complete dismissal of the actions taken by other countries. Actions that are significant and severe.
Finally, I am amused by the people dismissing the Chinese numbers. When you ask if the Chinese are lying, the answer is almost universally “Yes.” But when you ask if they are over reporting or under reporting...the answer is “under reporting.”
So many feel the Chinese are under reporting—yet they dismiss this as “no worse” than the flu.
Do you see the problem with that?
The best answer, in my opinion, is to establish your own expectations and prepare accordingly. Most people’s expectations are based on nothing other than their “feelings.” That is not a real good plan.
He is off to CPAC. He will be there past dinner time. It’s a scheduling thing.
Be careful. The virus has been in the US for a couple of weeks...
I am sure flu will kill more...but “relatively” speaking you are comparing a near complete baseball game to the score after two outs in the top of the first.

Why is POTUS coming out to speak when one person dies of the flu? Why don’t freepers send him those seasonal flu death stats? /s.
That would require testing. And that hasn’t happened on any scale in the US yet.
He better bring a note from his doctor, or he won’t get sick pay.

I chalk it up to a lack of very basic math education - “they’s only x amount of people with it in the US! It’s fake, a hoax, crisis actors!!’ . without stopping to think that in every country where it’s raging there were only x amount of patients in the first few weeks, including Wuhan.
I think Trump addressing this is good.
Mulvaney was right though, schools are already being shut down. It would be dumb to deny it was going to happen.
