Coronavirus is an “info-demic,” a panic caused by the spread of partial and often misleading information about a health risk, sometimes deliberately.
The virus is real, and a small number of people have been infected. But it is going to pass.
It is an unpleasant respiratory illness, but it is not an organ-destroying horror like Ebola. Precautions are being taken, a vaccine will emerge, and life will continue as usual.
Here are five specific reasons to chill out.
1. Coronavirus is a familiar illness, and not as bad as others. It is from the SARS family — and less deadly.

President Donald Trump bought precious time by stopping travel to China last month — a step critics said was overly drastic. crux of the problem mainly is that we all distrust govt and the media so much that we can not believe anything they say....
if there is a super virus, we would never know for sure....

Some kid in the class in Oregon will become sick. His mom and Dad will be sick, and take that to work. And someone at that plant will get sick.
Four people in total sick. But Dad worked at Boeing. So, they shut down that building. But news gets out and the markets freak out. Boeing shuts that plant for two weeks. Based on a kid getting sick.
The market will go full retard about that.
No one will die. They probably won’t get sick.
And during the shut down, will give other carriers to go to Las Vegas. And the whole thing starts again.
Not far fetched is it. But your closed head would not allow the possibility of anything happening..because it never has before.
Not on this thread have I said anything about there being no deaths yet. But so what if I did? I would just be stating a fact.

They are still stuck with the official CDC protocol: Traveled to China, or had known contact with somebody who traveled to China and got sick.
They send their samples to Atlanta. Or to the very, very limited test kits on the west coast.
But only Atlanta can confirm.

Since the CDC has refused to test for community spreading the actual answer is they have no idea how many cases are active in thr USA. If they had tested 10000 or more like the Japanese or hundreds of thousands like the Koreans then people could factually say we only have 4 cases of community spreading. What should be said is we have confirmed 4 cases via testing of under 500 in the nation for this virus and have tested zero of the close.contacts of these 4 cases so we donot at this time know the extent of community spreading. That’s factually accurate. What is not.accurate is we know we only have four cases. They haven’t been looking for it at all in fact they refused for a week to test case one onlu UC Davis raising hell did they finally relent.
Apparently the current test kits are only about 70% sensitive. A new test kit is being released which is much more accurate.

How long did those people bounce around with this virus over there before their Gov. even acknowledged it to the people?....Yet we knew here from the get go.....Do you not see the differences really?

I just purchased a fair amount of hospital disinfectant on Amazon today for home use.
Every store is sold out of face masks including Home Depot and Ace Hardware.
This is in the Idaho Panhandle, which seemed far from the problem areas. The snowbirds will be returning from Palm Springs, Palm Desert, La Quinta and other California winter refuges in a couple of months. Joy, joy, joy.

But on my “block”, in the exact area I live and do normal health-care and visit the pharmacy, there is a woman with Coronavirus in the hospital (in Mountain View CA, the hospital on Grant).
Coronavirus must be taken seriously. A repeat of the 1918 Spanish Flu would go over even worse in today’s powder-puff world than it did in 1918.

Yes, I understand your frustration with the CDC protocol, but let's face it. Oregon can't really confirm COVID-19 cases very well. So by my count, we currently have three CDC confirmed cases of U.S. contracted COVID-19.
Meanwhile, Big Media is giving us a bigger number, that many people are interpreting as CDC confirmed, U.S originated, COVID-19 cases.

I have only pointed out that our CDC has not been looking for it. I never said we are fine nor we are in the clear if anything is good the damn CDC is finally testing people so we can put the fire to our local leaders in the affected community to lock then down sooner not later. The economic damage is coming regardless we can save a lot.of.llives or we can give wall street another few weeks to shuffle chairs on the titanic.
As for me personally I’m Mormon I have over a year of food, meds, supplies and the means to filter water down to .001 micron, then UV sterilize and add chlorine as a third layer. I have full biological protection suits and full double seal masks for all my family 25 pairs of 40mm nbc rated filters. No group on earth is more prepared for the trials and tribulations than the Mormons.
We have been on self isolation since last week and have instituted our pandemic plan that is years in the making. No more work outside the house all tele commute no leaving ten feet from the back door the dog is on the leash to keep at least 3 meters from the fence lines. Dogs can get covid19 that was confirmed in Hong Kong today. The front of the house has plastic airtight seals on the Windows and doors as was the plan from Ebola. I take prepping to a whole nother level I won’t discuss details of firearms in an open forum but I could kit out a large group of fellow LDS think platoon sized fit out with full battle rattle. those of us blessed by The Father have supplies for our brothers and sisters who are not as blessed. I’m in my 40s and mostly retired I consult now so staying inside a month to see what shakes out is nothing but more time to binge Netflix and caffeine free orange soda. I know soda bad but I haven’t had caffeine in 15 years, don’t smoke nor drink so a Orange fanta is my sweet tooth.
The significant difference between the Spanish flu and this virus is age. Younger people were the ones with high death rates with the SF. The CV is mostly deadly with those over 80 with co-morbities. This is mild with most people. I could see how it may be confused with a regular respiratory cold virus by the sound of it.
Unless you have medical issues. Like myself. But, a flu could equally take me out.
The cruise ship number is up to 44.
