The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said it has been alerted to the first manufacturing shortage of an unnamed drug due to the deadly novel coronavirus outbreak that began in China and has now reached the U.S..

FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn said the agency has been "closely monitoring" the medical product supply chain "with the expectation" that the outbreak of the novel coronavirus would "likely" have an impact.

"A manufacturer has alerted us to a shortage of a human drug that was recently added to the drug shortages list," Hahn said in a statement Thursday night. "The manufacturer just notified us that this shortage is related to a site affected by coronavirus. The shortage is due to an issue with manufacturing of an active pharmaceutical ingredient used in the drug."

Not only human drugs, what about animal feed supplements and animal drugs... Could this effect the care of livestock?

I wish they had named the drug. Of course, that would have created a panic.

We need sources other than China for basic pharmaceutical ingredients. If one good thing comes out of this it will be the establishment of multiple sources.

"Black Agnes was warning about this issue of drug shortages "

I scanned the article quickly but didn't notice that they named what was short.

Conspiracy Theory.

China did this on purpose. What do they care if they kill a million people? As long as Trump is NOT reelected it is a big WIN for them.

Are they not the most to benefit for a Trump loss?

But what the hey, let’s ship more of our manufacturing to the third world (including China). What could go wrong?

"Not only human drugs, what about animal feed supplements and animal drugs... Could this effect the care of livestock?"

It may worry you to know that animals in the US (maybe the world) already consume 80% of the antibiotics made. I kid my doctor that I get more antibiotics from McDonalds than I do from him.

Update: Farm Animals Get 80 Percent Of Antibiotics Sold In U.S.

Trividia Manufacturing Solutions in Lancaster, NH makes the stuff.

Formerly the P.J. Noyes company.

Noyes, of Lancaster invented the tablet (or pill) making machine in a building a block from my house.

I guess we’ll have to wait to find out.

Likely won’t be the first though.

Took my doggo for her rabies booster yesterday. A month or so early. She’s a mostly outdoor doggo...

I dont know why this is hard for you to believe. As Black Agnes stated..even India gets components for the drugs from China.

Check where your drugs are made. India ,China...of course there is a concern.

China didn’t do this specifically on purpose.

The globalists did though.

The long term goal was the US in a hot (or even cold) war with China.

One that we’d subsequently lose. Bigly. Because no manufacturing base here any longer.

Can you imagine getting in a hot war with a country that produced all your necessary medicines?

And yet that was the globalists long term goal.

Any wonder why China was behaving so cocky lately?

As of this week-today, my wife and I have new rxes for 90 to 100 days plus what we had left over from the last 90 to 100 day cycle with our provider.

We have a year supply of baby aspirin and 100 days of our calcium tabs. We will pick two more bottles today at Costco.

This is SOP, for many of us, who live in California where we can have fires, earthquakes and flooding in the same week.

We keep a 90-100 day supply in our go bags incase we have to leave and can’t get back for awhile.
