As fears about the spread of the novel coronavirus continue to grow, Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., introduced legislation on Thursday aimed at securing America's medical supply chain.

Discussing the bill entitled "The Medical Supply Chain Security Act," on "Tucker Carlson Tonight," Hawley said the proposal would amend the 1938 Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act to allow the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to monitor medical device shortages with greater accuracy and efficiency.

...

"We’re looking at potential shortages of up to 150 commonly prescribed antibiotics and anti-viral medications," Hawley explained. "That’s bad. ... ...

Last year a law was passed, required by some treaty or similar, to allow foodstuffs to be imported without any labeling regarding country of origin. This is crazy, we need to know where our food comes from.

I agree. I’m pretty sure that was pre-Trump.
I want to know where my food is from, and if it doesn’t say, I assume the worst.

If it says processed in USA. Fine.

If it says Distributed in USA by. Not fine.

Fighting the FLU
Never hurts to boost your overall resistance and sufficient vitamin C along with NAC as mentioned certainly can’t hurt.
Fighting the flu virus!

Just ran across the following article by Dr. Andrew W. Saul what seems to confirm the effectiveness of vitamin C. Along here NAC (N-Acetyl Cysteine) deserves also to be mentioned a precursor to a very potent anti-oxidant glutathione, which is also used as an antidote against acetaminophen, as well as many other poisonous substances.

Comment: Dr. Andrew W. Saul, an international expert on vitamin therapy, says: “The coronavirus can be dramatically slowed or stopped completely with the immediate widespread use of high doses of vitamin C. Bowel tolerance levels of C taken in divided doses throughout the day, is a clinically proven antiviral, without equal.” And by the way Dr. Andrew Saul is not the only one touting the effectiveness of C as an effective virus fighter.

Fighting the flu virus, this may include the new corona virus as well. A while back when the H-1 N-1 virus was active (2009) some one from the medical profession suggested the use of a good dose of NAC or N-Acetyl Cysteine along with a healthy dose of buffered ascorbic acid (Vitamin C-about twice as much C as NAC) and it appeared to work like a charm. An effective dose of C maybe in the range of 3 to 4 grams three times a day mixed in with one time 3 grams of NAC.

What I found to work very well is by taking a small glass jar and dissolve about 12 grams of calcium ascorbate as well as 3 grams of NAC in about 8 to 9 oz of water and over a period of 24 hours take a swig every so often until this mixture is gone. Calcium ascorbate as well as NAC should dissolve very quickly. Calcium ascorbate can be bought in bulk very reasonably. Small amounts of C in the 500 mg range maybe great as supplements, but in order to be as effective as possible in an attempt to subdue some of these nasty viruses larger amounts as suggested are required.

Most food items in the US....come out of the US itself, or Mexico, or Central America (bananas for example). You might find oddball fruit items like Kiwi which are always from New Zealand.

Now, if you were talking all of the non-food items you’d see in Wal-Mart, that’s a different story. Like in the drug department...all the vitamins....those are all virtually made in China. The bulk of your soaps are from China.

Then you go clothing department, where probably 50-percent of the items are from China, and the rest from Indonesia, India, Pakistan, Dominican Republic, or Mexico (socks for example).

If this trend continues with the virus, by May....you might notice several empty shelves at your local shop, and by June....they admit that there are dozens of items which they can no longer procure. Food is the least of your worries. I’d worry more about blood pressure medication or cancer drugs.

Stop posting this misinformation crap. You are not a doctor, the snake oil peddling you’re repeating is not sound medical advice either. Supplements can be extremely dangerous when misused, and people can be misled by following this Alex Jones bullshit, and avoid seeking timely medical attention from genuine professionals.

Mike Adams had a doctor, who is a vitamin C therapist, on his show today. Has other tips on how to beat the virus, too, including off the shelf hydrogen peroxide.

In the end, the coronavirus issue will accelerate the decoupling of the US from China, and that will be a good thing indeed.

The Doctor is Thomas E. Levy. He has a few books on Vitamin C, and Magnesium. They are great books- Thanks for posting this. Mike Adams is also great.

Which Big Pharma Corporation do you work for? Maybe since you seem to be so well informed, you can enlighten the rest of us about the extremely dangerous supplements and tell us how many deaths that they cause each year?

Here is some more, one of many what you call MISINFORMATION put out by researchers of the medical profession. In other words I did not come up with this stuff, I am just repeating what was written by the medical profession. The reason you seldom hear anyone talking or suggesting it is that pharmaceutical companies cannot make any money on it, neither can the medical profession. Besides there is enough proof that this stuff actually works, maybe not always 100% what is on par with other prescribed medications. The only difference being that most prescription medications can have undesirable side effects, while so far the same cannot be said by ingesting vitamin C in large amounts and NAC in smaller amounts. In any case it pays to have an open mind, do your own research and stay healthy and well. 2/25/2020, 5:47:24 PM · 45 of 118 ProtectOurFreedom to saintgermaine I thought you NAC promoters were just selling quackery, so I just Googled "NAC antiviral" and the first hit after the ads was this: N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC) inhibits virus replication and expression of pro-inflammatory molecules in A549 cells infected with highly pathogenic H5N1 influenza A virus. All but one of the authors is with the Institute of Medical Virology, Johann Wolfgang Goethe-University Frankfurt, Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Abstract The antioxidant N-acetyl-l-cysteine (NAC) had been shown to inhibit replication of seasonal human influenza A viruses. Here, the effects of NAC on virus replication, virus-induced pro-inflammatory responses and virus-induced apoptosis were investigated in H5N1-infected lung epithelial (A549) cells. NAC at concentrations ranging from 5 to 15 mM reduced H5N1-induced cytopathogenic effects (CPEs), virus-induced apoptosis and infectious viral yields 24 h post-infection. NAC also decreased the production of pro-inflammatory molecules (CXCL8, CXCL10, CCL5 and interleukin-6 (IL-6)) in H5N1-infected A549 cells and reduced monocyte migration towards supernatants of H5N1-infected A549 cells. The antiviral and anti-inflammatory mechanisms of NAC included inhibition of activation of oxidant sensitive pathways including transcription factor NF-κB and mitogen activated protein kinase p38. Pharmacological inhibitors of NF-κB (BAY 11-7085) or p38 (SB203580) exerted similar effects like those determined for NAC in H5N1-infected cells. The combination of BAY 11-7085 and SB203580 resulted in increased inhibitory effects on virus replication and production of pro-inflammatory molecules relative to either single treatment. NAC inhibits H5N1 replication and H5N1-induced production of pro-inflammatory molecules. Therefore, antioxidants like NAC represent a potential additional treatment option that could be considered in the case of an influenza A virus pandemic. NOW you have my attention! What do the microbiologists, virologists, doctors and scientists on FR say?

What is wrong with the USA? The way to do this is a very high import tariff on medical/pharmaceuticals. You do that ONE THING, then get out of the way. The tariff will incentivize the repatriation and help balance the budget!!!.

I agree, but for whatever reason, Trump wasn’t able to raise the tariffs high enough fast enough, and now we’ve hit a crisis.

I think the nation will be more receptive to tariffs after this, but for the moment, the government needs to step in and help fire these companies up.

I’m all for short term interest free loans to reputable companies building manufacturing plants for critical known products currently made in China. Make the loans so you can only draw it down as you make actual expenditures for the plant. And slap a 200% import tariff on the product as soon as manufacturing is ramped.
