Might as well stay home since we don’t have any tests that work.

California, Nebraska and Illinois are the only U.S. states that can currently test for coronavirus, the Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) told Reuters on Friday.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) last week said some of the testing kits sent to U.S. states and at least 30 countries produced “inconclusive” results due to a flawed component.
The CDC planned to send replacement materials to make the kits work.

Yep- Those were scary times- My school days were after that period- but i remember folks talking about the outbreak back then- and about their friends getting struck down by it- One of my teachers, and a classmate had polio- and had to use those polio crutches that strapped to the arms- and the girl in class could walk, but dragged her feets when she ran- but she was a tough girl-

I think it is legit that they asked 700+ people to isolate. There’s a few cities in America that if it gets loose in it will be a SHTF time. New York, LA, Chicago, Miami, San Fran, Portland...oddly they are all democrat bastions. It would be wise not let your own political bias cloud the strategic concerns of keeping our country safe.
Y2k was suppose to put businesses etc. down as well....THEY all said so.

Nobody is saying don’t be prepared....but if there were 700 cases in Ny I still wouldn’t do anything other than what I’ve currently done.
Probably from flights returning from high-risk parts of China?

It may be related to the Chinese student exchange programs. There likely were students traveling back and forth in December on college break.
