Senate Judiciary Calendar Empty as FISA Reauthorization Deadline Approaches…

Previously Chairman Lindsey Graham promised to hold public hearings on reforms needed to the FISA process prior to any reauthorization vote. However, with two weeks remaining until current FISA authorization expires the Senate Judiciary Committee has yet to hold a single hearing, and the senate calendar is empty.

In November of 2019 buried deep in the congressional budget Continuing Resolution (CR) was a short-term extension to reauthorize the FISA “business records provision”, the “roving wiretap” provision, the “lone wolf” provision, and the more controversial bulk metadata provisions [Call Detail Records (CDR)], all parts of the Patriot Act. As a result of the FISA CR inclusion the terminal deadline was pushed to March 15, 2020.

The Senate is scheduled to go back into recess on March 13th. Additionally, the DOJ/FBI response to the FISA court order (due February 5th) has still not been made public. At a minimum the DOJ/FBI response to the FISA court needs to be made public prior to any reauthorization by congress; and to better understand the scale of the issue, an explanation of the the DOJ/FBI sequestered evidence needs to be made public.

Any bill with FISA authorization should be vetoed.

But as Sundance noted on Twitter, they will likely now put reauthorization in a Coronavirus funding bill to pressure Trump to reauthorize.

They are clearly unconcerned with abuses and desperate to get reauthorization.

And unfortunately, Trump will likely go along.

The Congress (especially McConnell) have become very good at creating these anti-veto boxes to get their way.

Not only have they bundled crappy legislation with good, they also wait until the last minute so it becomes an “emergency” to reauthorize.

There is no accountability for their delays.

Linda is going to have hearings. He is going to do deep investigations. This time he REALLY REALLY REALLY means it, too.

For what it’s worth, the same Rep. Devin Nunes who is all over television complaining about FISA abuses was the one who led the House effort to re-authorize FISA back in 2018.

It’s high time for Americans to realize that their government is filled with people who are full of sh!t. And the ones who seem to spend half their waking hours making TV appearances more so than anyone else.

Graham’s slow walk “investigation” is running as fast as it can away from the coupists in Congress, Main Justice, FBI and CIA. He’s focused on the “sources” of the “bad information.” The fix is in, obviously.

Flimsey Grahamnesty has always been against the citizens and the rule of law, just like his mentor John McCain.

There is NO new Flimsey Grahamnesty, he is still the amnesty loving Deep State operative he has always been.
