MILWAUKEE Seven people, including the shooter, are dead in an attack Wednesday afternoon near Molson Coors Milwaukee campus, a report from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel said.
Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett confirmed the shooter is dead.
The campus is located near 38th and State Streets in Milwaukee. Police are asking people to clear the area at this time.
Molson Coors told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel there was an active shooter on its campus and employees have been ordered to find a safe place to hide.
Sources tell WTMJ News in Milwaukee there are multiple causalities.
The Milwaukee County Medical Examiners Office said it has not been called to the scene as of 3:20 p.m. However, employees said that is not uncommon since police are working to stabilize the scene.
Officers from the Milwaukee Police Department, Milwaukee County Sheriffs Office, Marquette University Police Department and U.S. Marshals are responding, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
The Wisconsin Humane Society was placed on lock down as a result of reports of an active shooter. In a Facebook post, staff said that its campus is closed and all adoptions are on hold until further notice.
Police are expected to provide an update to the media soon. News 3 Now has a crew headed to Milwaukee and will update this article once more information is released.
Wisconsin State Sen. LaTonya Johnson and State Rep. Evan Goyke issued a statement on the shooting.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of those who were killed or injured in the devastating workplace shooting Milwaukee on Wednesday. Our hearts go out to everyone affected during this unimaginable time. Acts of violence like this shake our communities to their core. We all deserve to feel safe at home, at work, and in our community. We are grateful to the first responders and law enforcement personnel who responded to this tragic incident. We appreciate their brave work and dedication to our community. Molson Coors is a part of our community and we are a part of theirs. They have been a part of Milwaukees near west side for over 100 years. We grieve over the loss of life and pledge to work to build the safest community we can. We are grateful for all that Molson Coors has done in conjunction with the Near Westside Partners to bring our neighborhoods together.
I’m working graveyard at the Coors plant in Golden, Colorado tomorrow night. I wonder what kind of safe workplace pantomime they’ll have in store for us now...
Shooter was an employee who was fired, today.
There was a shooting at my favorite mall a few weeks back - in the parking lot of the Cheesecake Factory.
Nothing is sacred anymore. :(
Stay safe!
Prayers up for the vics. The POS perp could have gotten more mileage out of this had he done it before the demodronic contestant DUHbait last night. Nuzzlin’ joe could have made it 150,000,007 killed since 2007 with guns.
Going Postal... or would that be Going Coors?
Uh huh. Went on a rampage. Just another work-related incident.
Same to you, Ma’am.
Perhaps I’ll mention to management (Yet again) that licensed concealed carrying employees should be allowed to be armed while there as a deterrence.
I already know what they’ll say, but it couldn’t hurt.
“employees have been ordered to find a safe place to hide.”
This is a problem.
Prep for the ‘rat Convention?
Was the shooting about drugs, prostitution, gambling or just plain gang violence?
Well.... It's Wisconsin...
press conference was held up for over an hour for the progressive lt. gov. and gov. to travel from MAdistan to posture for gun control- These douchebags have no scruples
Dude went full Duff.
Workplace violence as Obama labeled the Ft. Hood terrorist attack.
I just watched the presser. They were unusually restrained in their call to disarm the law abiding! The Lt. Governor did the most grandstanding, but he’s a poser from the word go.
Updated: 5 dead, plus the shooter who killed himself. There are still 1,000 or so people there in lock down and they are clearing buildings as fast as they can.
Update again at 9pm-ish.
I don’t know about this. 35 years ago when I did a project in Milwaukee, one of our crew asked for a Budweiser and got such a glare from our local project manager for even mentioning a non-Milwaukee brewed beer. Now, they have a Colorado company owned by a Canadian company brewing there. SMH!
Ah, Duff!
BUUURRPP!
I noticed several of the alphabet news sites have closed their comments section before even 24 comments were made.
Wonder if alcohol was involved. 3.2% or higher.
