> People who are employed in Public Sector (taxpayer funded) jobs should NOT be allowed or permitted to belong to any Labor Union at all. <
You and I dont see eye to eye on this. But I will concede to you this important point: In a private business, private money is involved. So the company negotiator must be careful, and be fiscally prudent. But in the public sector private money is not involved. This too often leads to reckless concessions to the union.
Regards! I have enjoyed this conversation even if we have disagreed.
University schools of education are extremely harmful. The ideas they generate are not just worthless. They are counter-productive.
I have long advocated that those departments be abolished. If you want to teach, say, science you should first have to get a degree in science. Thats what I did, by the way.
But teacher training of some kind is needed. Ive seen a few industry types teach in the high school under emergency certification. They were not very successful - they tried to lecture instead of motivate and explain.
The trick is to get the right kind of teacher training. That wont come from a school of education! Perhaps it could come from observing a master teacher for a month or so.
The administration of colleges and especially teaching programs is far left and getting more so.
One of the Most Liberal Groups in America
College administrators are off the scale in relation to the rest of the nation in terms of their ideological leanings, contends Samuel J. Abrams.

Agree!
The most I have ever wanted from any teacher’s methodology be it jr high- high school-college\university is be organized! You Mr\Mrs dynamic\inspirational personality just present things in an organized manner.
That rarely happened at any level!
Now I said something disorganized & incoherent!
An education sin I was anting about!
For “...You Mr\Mrs dynamic\inspirational personality just present things in an organized manner.
...”
Substitute “...You DON’T HAVE TO HAVE a Mr\Mrs dynamic\inspirational personality just present things in an organized manner.
.....”
I REALLY WISH YOU COULD GO BACK & EDIT!
Your indulgence is appreciated!
Some of the new curriculums are a script to be followed day by day word for word. Teachers will be replaced by computers and day cay attendants soon.
One common connector between the public schools and communism is the labor unions. That’s why their perfidy went on steroids in the ‘60s. But well before that communist activists and sympathizers knew well that control of education was key. From the “top” education colleges (e.g., Columbia) on down, they have formed two generations of pathetic teachers. And God bless any who make it through that gauntlet and then still try to teach eternal truths.
Blah blah blah
WE are to blame...all of us.
WE allowed our schools to be stolen from us to the point that our votes mean nothing, our opinions are ignored. And we are thought of as ignorant rubes only good for our value as wallets, succumbing regularly to appeals of “for the children” who come out of the system dumber than a bag of hammers, as we pass school bond after school bond.
We continue to elect people that hate us and our values.
We are the problem.
I have no solutions: I don’t know what to do. My angry vote is cancelled by two or three ignorant ones.
But I fear WE are too far gone, now.
I just believe that with all of the civil service benefits and perks, there is no reasonable or moral justification for public sector employees (note that I did not say “workers”) to be unionized.
I will also add, that I did work in the public sector aside and apart from my tour of duty in the Marine Corps so I do have that perspective to draw upon.
Fair enough. You’re right of course. The Union shouldn’t be involved in the actual work; only the working conditions, benefits, and pay.
To answer the headline: Because the teachers and administrators are scumbag idiots.
Ideologically cleansing the public schools and crushing the power of the unions should be a priority in every state and locality we control.
The curriculum needs to be pro-American and if the teachers don’t like that they can go work at McDonalds.
This is major, I fear the younger generations are indoctrinated to vote rat. Kids today are getting hit with nonsense like “gender queer” and “climate crisis”. One would hope they’ll grow up and vote Republican once they start having to pay taxes but......
Off of the thread topic, but I need to say it:
We went to (not our usual) church last night for Ash Wednesday and saw some things that we didnt like/didnt know were allowed:
1. The deacon was really running the service. Even the part after Communion is distributed, the deacon was cleaning up the Communion crumbs and putting the Communion back in the tabernacle.
2. The deacon read the Gospel.
3. What looked to be a 16/17 year old alter boy (he was dressed like an alter boy and sat with the other alter boys) was also giving out Ashes.
Maybe Im getting to the Get off my lawn! stage of life, but I felt the entire service was cheapened. Why not just have the priest step in to bless the Communion and leave?.
We both went to the priest for Ashes and Communion. Sorry, helpers.
Im beyond happy that our usual church is traditional.
/Rant off./
Did they tell you to vote for Bernie Sanders during the service ?
No. I wouldnt have been shocked if they did though.
Are you from a liberal voting area? Sometimes the prevailing cultural attitudes will prevail. All it takes is one liberal “activist” to get the ball rolling.
I think that most people are not accustomed to discussing philosophical ideas so they are easily swayed by the liberal activists since we are constantly exposed to the liberals self righteous preening.
My mom does a lot of Communion helping at Holy Name, lots of people.
I understand why you’d want the Priest to do it of course.
Eucharistic Ministers are fine. No problems.
But the Deacon running things? An Alter Boy giving out ashes? Weird.
“Eucharistic ministers” don’t even officially exist; the Church has “extraordinary ministers of the Eucharist” who are to be used in emergencies, but no official position known as “Eucharistic Minister”. It is just a symptom of a leadership who lost their faith in the Divine Presence, corrupting a laity who has lost theirs. They feel like they belong, but are hardly necessary as Mass is offered in front of sparsely-populated pews. Even the revised Catechism uses the term “extraordinary minister”; the whole issue is now just a liturgical abuse/sacrilege.
When you watch the altar server wash the priest’s hands, don’t you wonder why the others who will touch the Eucharist aren’t having theirs washed? It is because they believe they are handling simple bread,
Post of the Day!!!
Great, great points, FRiend!!!
