President Trump announced Wednesday that he would be holding a 6 p.m. ET news conference to discuss the coronavirus, which is rapidly spreading around the world and triggering fears of a pandemic.
The president also bashed the media and Democrats for allegedly overhyping the threat.
"Low Ratings Fake News MSDNC (Comcast) & @CNN are doing everything possible to make the Caronavirus [sic] look as bad as possible, including panicking markets, if possible," Trump said, referencing dives in the U.S. stock market both Monday and Tuesday which were triggered by fears about coronavirus. "Likewise their incompetent Do Nothing Democrat comrades are all talk, no action. USA in great shape!"
"I will be having a News Conference at the White House, on this subject, today at 6:00 P.M. CDC representatives, and others, will be there. Thank you!" he wrote.
The president's announcement follows criticism from many in the media about his administration's handling of the threat and comments made by Democratic presidential contenders Tuesday night on the South Carolina debate stage to the same effect.
Ahead of the debate, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., tweeted that Trump is mishandling the U.S. government's response to the virus, which originated in China's Wuhan province and has infected tens of thousands around the globe, despite largely sparing U.S. citizens on American soil so far.
"The Trump administration is absolutely bungling the response to coronavirus, putting our public health and our economy at risk," she said. "This is why we need a real plan and an adult in charge."
Warren then tweeted her plan for "combating infectious disease outbreaks," and went on to slam Trump for "crisis mismanagement," previous budget cuts to health programs and not taking a stronger stance against Chinese President Xi Jinping after his country's largely opaque response to the outbreak.

Well if you can knock the stock market off it’s perch that would be a start. I’m not a conspiratorialist, but that doesn’t mean any crisis won’t get exploited.
By the way, I believe this Coronavirus is just warning. At the appropriate time what will descend will be far more devastating than can be imagined, but I won’t be here to see it.

On Maria Bartiromo today, a GOP congressman, an M.D., said that two weeks ago he presented a bill, or told Congress in some other way, that the coronavirus issue had to be addressed IMMEDIATELY. The (RAT) Congress blew him off to work on some other piddly issue, and now they’re blaming Trump for stalling.

Hope the Congressman has got documentation for this...I would suspect it’s in the Congressional Record and he would easily be able to prove this. It’s a very important point that would completely blow up the Dems. Somebody should write to his office.

Yeah. I Googled the Congressmen who are MDs, and there are a bunch. I couldn’t recognize the face. But when he told her, she was so shocked that she had him elaborate. I tried to find that clip on Maria’s website, but it wasn’t there. It may get posted later.
Huh? Weatherman, what are you smoking? I know you don’t have to be a weatherman to see which way the wind blows (or even an heir to the Weathermen), but even so, you’re probably on another planet so it doesn’t matter.
Exactly what would Trump be lying about? And the media with its hysteria - manipulated by people like the CDC director (who is the sister of Rod Rosenstein) coming out and giving an unauthorized call to panic - is certainly to blame for much of the “we’re all gonna die” panic.

Congressman Michael Burgess MD, R Texas. He gave an excellent interview, described how the committee was not interested in discussing coronavirus because they were busy trying to promote a PRO-ABORTION bill even though they knew it was going to go nowhere.
He also said that it called attention to the fact that 70-90% of our generic drugs and components of non-generic drugs should not be made in China...as they are now. He said we need to change this.
