It is always a pleasure to hear from someone who was diligent enough to do his research. I got onto it many years ago and have been taking it ever since amongst many other nutrients as well as vitamins, of which I buy most of them in bulk as it is more economical. Along here it may be worthwhile to mention not to forget vitamin C in its buffered form, such as calcium ascorbate and of course vitamin D as one Freeper suggested. We are all creatures of the sun, humans, animals as well as plants.

With sunshine (D) we flourish, without it we just exist. Many years ago I had a similar opinion like many MD’s have that in order to stay healthy and well all you have to do is to eat properly until about 40 years ago, give or take I was introduced to a very interesting book called LIFE EXTENTION by Durk Pearson and Sandy Shaw which completely reformed my outlook on what medical doctors call supplementation with chemicals.

Just look at the chemical formula of an egg and if some one would ask you to eat this chemical, you probably throw up your arms and say “Heavens no” I am not sure if this book is still available or in print, but it certainly had contributed much to my overall health. Matter of fact as soon as I finish here I will check and see if it is still available on Amazon. In any case stay healthy and well.

There are an endless amount of articles about the viability of vitamin C not just by Dr. Saul. Below is an excerpt from one of many. Keep in mind vitamin C is relatively cheap and inexpensive. Pharmaceutical companies can’t make any money from it so it is rarely recommended.

Imagine that a deadly virus is sweeping the world, killing and maiming hundreds of thousands of children. Nothing seems able to stop it - until a doctor stands up at the American Medical Association and reports on 60 cases involving severely infected children, all of whom have been cured. Yet his work, subsequently reported in a peer-review journal, is ignored, leaving the virus to wreak havoc for decades.

This isn’t a docudrama about some futuristic plague - it’s a true story about what happened in June 1949 when polio was at its peak. Dr Frederick Klenner, a clinical researcher from Reidsville, North Carolina, reported that a massive intravenous dose of Vitamin C - up to 20,000mg daily for three days (today’s recommended daily allowance is 60mg) - had cured 60 of his patients. The findings were published in a medical journal, yet there was virtually no interest. Apart from a couple of minor trials, no attempt was made to find out if they had any scientific substance

2/25/2020, 5:47:24 PM · 45 of 118 ProtectOurFreedom to saintgermaine I thought you NAC promoters were just selling quackery, so I just Googled "NAC antiviral" and the first hit after the ads was this: N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC) inhibits virus replication and expression of pro-inflammatory molecules in A549 cells infected with highly pathogenic H5N1 influenza A virus. All but one of the authors is with the Institute of Medical Virology, Johann Wolfgang Goethe-University Frankfurt, Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Abstract The antioxidant N-acetyl-l-cysteine (NAC) had been shown to inhibit replication of seasonal human influenza A viruses. Here, the effects of NAC on virus replication, virus-induced pro-inflammatory responses and virus-induced apoptosis were investigated in H5N1-infected lung epithelial (A549) cells. NAC at concentrations ranging from 5 to 15 mM reduced H5N1-induced cytopathogenic effects (CPEs), virus-induced apoptosis and infectious viral yields 24 h post-infection. NAC also decreased the production of pro-inflammatory molecules (CXCL8, CXCL10, CCL5 and interleukin-6 (IL-6)) in H5N1-infected A549 cells and reduced monocyte migration towards supernatants of H5N1-infected A549 cells. The antiviral and anti-inflammatory mechanisms of NAC included inhibition of activation of oxidant sensitive pathways including transcription factor NF-κB and mitogen activated protein kinase p38. Pharmacological inhibitors of NF-κB (BAY 11-7085) or p38 (SB203580) exerted similar effects like those determined for NAC in H5N1-infected cells. The combination of BAY 11-7085 and SB203580 resulted in increased inhibitory effects on virus replication and production of pro-inflammatory molecules relative to either single treatment. NAC inhibits H5N1 replication and H5N1-induced production of pro-inflammatory molecules. Therefore, antioxidants like NAC represent a potential additional treatment option that could be considered in the case of an influenza A virus pandemic. NOW you have my attention! What do the microbiologists, virologists, doctors and scientists on FR say?
