It took 12 years (2003-2015) for China to come up with a SARS vaccine ready to test. But since SARS was eradicated before 2015, no human testing was done. Just for comparison. SARS-CoV-2 (official designation of the new virus) so far is less lethal than the 40% of SARS, but is way easier to catch/spread. 5 to 800 in a week in South Korea, primarily because of one woman, who had no contact with China.
Be ready to bunker in place, and don’t be surprised if this takes longer than estimated to arrive, to be reported, to peak, and to be over.
I don’t recall how they eradicated SARS. Was it by exterminating all of the wild civets that carried it?
