Oil pared losses and world stocks seesawed on Monday as cost-cutting plans by General Motors and economic data offset fears that a flu outbreak could spread into a pandemic and further strain a global recession.

Investors who reckoned markets would fall on fears that the flu outbreak in Mexico could spread worldwide with dire consequences were forced to reverse their bets and buy stocks.

Making people aware of what is going on, isn't stroking the hysteria. If you get hysterics from news that's you're problem, not the person who shares news.

Potentially every one benefits if protective action is taken.

• People in Wuhan were able to take protective action when the doctor sounded the alarm. The criticism isn't that the doctor sounded the alarm, but that it should have been sounded earlier.
• Countries around the world benefited by putting travel restrictions and quarantines in place. That's help stop a lot of the spread. Some countries that didn't quarantine, like Italy, have admitted that was a major mistake.
• Examining our medical supply stockpile and taking action now to fire up domestic production of supplies will benefit all.
• No alarms mean no vaccine research. Fortunately, we've got several companies trying to come up with a viable vaccine. And we've got several trials of anti-viral medicines going on.

Who benefits by downplaying this and pretending that it's not a problem at all?
