Iconic disco group Village People issued a statement on Monday declaring that President Donald Trump is welcome to their music at his rallies after left-wing activists demanded the group ban him from using their music.

Village People’s classic song “Macho Man” played as Trump entered a raucous rally in Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad, India, on Monday. The president has also previously used the band’s iconic 1978 hit “Y.M.C.A” at various campaign events.

Could be a re-recording. A lot of groups who didn’t get a ton of royalties on the originals will re-record them later on to get some cash from the album sales basically “covering” their own hit record.

Trump needs to get the rights to “We’re Not Going to Take It”. Below is a link to short a fan-made Trump video using that song. If you’ve never seen it, trust me. It’s absolutely worth the click.

Music never goes into the public domain anymore unless someone screws up filing paperwork or it was never going to make anyone money in the first place so they just didn’t bother. Copyrights nowadays are for all intents and purposes in perpetuity forever and ever.

Soft head, hard hat...

Surprised no one complained about the “topless Indian”

“That music has been ubiquitous and out in circulation for so long, I would think it was under Public Domain.
Songs like “Happy Birthday” or “We Will Rock You!” are sung when people chose to sing them.”

Michael Jackson’s estate owns “Happy Birthday” or did at one point.

Did they replace the American Indian with an Indian Indian for this rally?

“They may be at the ‘Villages’ in Florida.”

They’re the cover band on Bingo Nights.

"That music seemed like a cover of the original “Macho Man” — didn’t sound like The Village People. (I could be wrong.)"

Probably a way to get around paying ASCAP royalties. The record companies retain the copyright of the original recording. The band often keeps the copyright to the song itself. If the band says it's OK, you could play a cover for free.

Strangely enough, by all accounts all of the members of the Village People are straight as an arrow. Their original manager, on the other hand, a flamer, like a $3 bill.

"They are probably just glad their music is being played again."

Ha, ha. That was my first thought too.

Trump should get Village People at one of his rally’s.

Just to drive them (more) nuts.

That would be a great song....I just sent a list of suggestions that I think the crowd would like:

Alman Brothers - Blue Sky
Chicago - Only the Beginning
Clapton - Forever Man
Stones - Monkey Man
VH - Lay your Whisky Down (yea that’ll go over well)
Hagar - Can’t Drive 55
Moody Blues - Just A Singer in a RR band
Skynrd - Travelin’ Band
Gloria Gaynor - How High the Moon
Elton Jon - Pinball Wizard (I like it better then the Who)

We’ll see....

I emailed the WH with some song suggestions, it would be a good idea for other people to do the same....The most and only awesome song that was played during a rally was in NH last year before Trump took the stage they played “Thunder Struck”...

Here’s one for every rat candidate:

Now, don’t hang on, nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky
It slips away
And all your money won’t another minute buy
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind
Dust in the wind
Everything is dust in the wind
Everything is dust in the wind
The wind (Kansas)
