Consider this is mostly, almost all asian deaths. They are more prone to have serious cases and die from this than those with european genetics. So this is a significant factor in why the current death rate is higher.
It might also be related to cultural factors, e.g., lack of sanitary conditions.
I’d be curious to know the mortality rate in Japan compared to China.
“Consider this is mostly, almost all asian deaths.. They are more prone to have serious cases and die from this than those with european genetics.”
I keep seeing people post this, but where is the supporting study? Could it be simply a case of most of the infections to date have been in Asia - where mostly Asians live? I’ve seen one incomplete study that ranked susceptibility by race, but in no way said this was a predominantly Asian thing. Smoking was a bigger factor. Is there a better, more complete study that has the racial data and controls for environmental factors?
Italians might not agree with you right now.
Not necessarily true that Asians are more susceptible. It broke out in china so more cases there but look at Iran, Italy and South Korea. It seems to be spreading fast in those areas too.
I’d also guess that the horrible air quality in China also might have something to do with it.
I bet they havent taken into account the air quality in those countries either.
China? Hell, you cant even see in some of their cities on account of the pollution.

Internet bullsh!t story.
Ooooooor... it’s mostly Asian deaths because that’s where it broke out first.
A year ago January I got the flu. I was and am in good health and it was very sudden so I got to the hospital later than I needed to. I nearly died, my kidneys were shutting down. I felt like I had a mild chest cold and then in 36 hours everything went south. Wow!
Had I not had immediate access to high quality, modern medical care I would not be here now regaling you with my pithy wisdom. After 4 days I was out of the hospital and 3 weeks later 90%+ recovered. Imagine the outcome had I lived in China?
This thing worries me considerably, but I also wonder how to factor in the difference in health, environment and access to decent medical care.
I do know this, based on what is happening to the supply lines of the companies and product lines I sell, I am likely to go broke before the virus gets me.
People in this country have no real understanding of how supply lines and distribution are being affected. They think they do, but they are very, very wrong. No one inventories much anymore. It is all JIT. So things can dry up mighty fast.
