South Korea cases jump to 763, with seven deaths

No sooner had I typed in those South Korean infection figures, and they are out of date. We have just heard from the health authorities there that infections have jumped to 763, up from 602. Yonhap news agency says there has also been a 7th death.

Over 110 people including nine medical staff, at the Daenam Hospital have been confirmed to be infected with Covid-19, with five victims of the potentially fatal illness reported or linked to the hospital, which has been in cohort isolation to stem further spread.

Bring Out Your Dead

The big 15:00 to 16:00 report numbers have not come out today.

Declared cases, Fatalities, and Recoveries are about 1/6th to 1/3rd of the normal
kinds of numbers by this time of the day.

If 29M people get this, I’m guessing it’ll be WAY more than 16,000 deaths.

I think you’re right. I think we’ll see real numbers from Western countries. Keep in mind that the countries we will see reports from now (Japan, S. Korea, Italy) have had time to do at least some containment, even if it was horribly bungled, so the numbers will be depressed from what they would have been.

They already sort of, are, but the large number of cases on board the Diamond Princess is in some counts, still showing Japan as #2.
