There was no such term as Ukrainian before 1920s. All of them called themselves Russian.

Nonsense, it was Russian authorities that would not use the term Ukraine or Ukrainian and instead were required by the Tsar to use the terminology "Small Russian" for Ukrainians. Ukrainian authors wrote about Ukraine even in 1840.

My ex-wife’s grandparents came to America from Tarnopol and Kiev after 1900.

The woman from Tarnopol listed her nationality as “Austrian” and her language as “Russian”, the man from Kiev answered “Russian” for both nationality and language.

When the woman died in Connecticut in 1992, she had a Russian Orthodox funeral.

Just two data points.

Ukrainian operative Chalupa, president Poroshenko, and NABU director Sytnyk persuaded half of the Americans that Trump is a Putin’s puppet.
I guess theirs would just as easy persuade Wikipedia about everything the Tsars did.
Trump at least can hit back.
