WSJ: Wages Are Rising, so Government Must Quickly Expand Immigration
Breitbart ^ | 20 Feb 2020 | NEIL MUNRO

President Donald Trump’s “Hire American,” low-immigration policy is giving American employees a larger share of company profits, so the federal government should raise the supply of foreign workers, according to a mournful editorial column in the Wall Street Journal.

“Corporate profits have been declining as employers increase wages to hire scarce blue-collar workers … corporate profits could soon drop to historic lows, which could reduce business investment and GDP growth,” says the editorial board’s complaint, titled “America’s Disappearing Workers.”

“Maybe the only short-term fix is to increase legal immigration—unless Americans want to see their living standards decline and more jobs exported,” the editorial concluded.

The nation’s workforce includes at least 164.6 million workers. None of those workers are “disappearing,” and CEOs are free to solve their labor shortages by recruiting workers from nearby companies.

However, CEOs are loath to start a bidding war for workers — even though the CEOs are very eager to see workers bid against each other for jobs by offering to accept lower wages or irregular scheduling.

The proposed policy of endless migration to keep wages low is being pushed by nearly all of the Democratic candidates for president. In contrast, Trump is running TV ads boasting of rising wages amid a “Blue Collar Boom”:

@GOP "This is a blue-collar BOOM!"—@realDonaldTrump #KAG

The WSJ editorial first admitted the good news about the supply, demand, and price of labor:

Many working-age men who dropped out of the workforce during the recession and early years of the recovery are relying on parents and government. Nearly 12% of 25- to 64-year-olds in Kentucky are not in the workforce because they claim a disability. Almost a quarter of 25- to 34-year-old men without a four-year degree live with their parents—twice as many as those with a bachelor’s. […]

Only a dumass globalist would view rising wages as a bad thing

Except they’re not dumbass, they’re evil. They know they are lying. The only dumbasses are anyone dumbass enough to actually believe their lies. I don’t think that’s a very big group. Anyone who pretends to believe these lies is a participant at some level.

"“Corporate profits have been declining as employers increase wages to hire scarce blue-collar workers "

Bolliks!

What they really mean is that, like Bernie et al have pointed out, the economy is just too damned good! Stock brokers just do not have all those wonderful opportunities to fleece the peons like they do when things are borderline bad...

Have a communist inlaw living in CT and working on the exchange who does nothing these past two years except claim he has had to change his lifestyle because he can earn only 60% of what he was earning under his majesty obama...
Don't know the technical reasons, but I am tickled to death that he is suffering... Particularly after hearing about all the bragging he was doing about his fancy cars, jewelry, CT home, and a NYC apartment, I'm hoping he's on the street soon...

Typical communist... The peasants should not be allowed to keep or accumulate money that should belong only to him and his kind...

American consumers want the the lowest price and won't pay a premium for American labor

American consumers can't afford to pay premiums because corporate globalists have undercut their wages with foreign labor - to the cheers of some fake conservatives.

Cut H1bs also. Companies can just restart their job training programs if they find there are not enough Americans who can do the jobs needed.

They can also go to universities and talk to students telling them that African studies and Womyn’s studies and Philosophy courses are not needed. If they want good jobs they should study STEM courses, Accounting and Finance, learn information systems etc. These are the skills that will get them paid. They used to do that.

Executives can maybe do the patriotic thing, and reduce their own obscene compensation packages, hire American/legal residents, and stop using the welfare system to subsidize a pool of low wage illegals.

Imposing SLAVE WAGES on LEGAL immigrants and minorities, by importing CHEAP, ILLEGAL labor, is RACIST!!!!

This will probably be unpopular... for wages and profits to both increase, productivity must also increase. In any business expansion where there is near full employment there are inefficiencies introduced to businesses, particularly large businesses. The mostly unrecognized reason is a good 10% of workers do piss poor work and would be better off unemployed.

There will be a correction and right-sizing. Hopefully a bubble won't burst. With that said, more unskilled immigrant labor will not help business profits.

Not while the CEO needs another yacht.

Which is NOT what I was going for.

I want a statement that makes liberals squirm.

50 billion?

There’s only like 7 billion people on the entire planet.

“WSJ: Wages Are Rising, so Government Must Quickly Expand Immigration”

Western culture is deteriorating, so government should restrict all immigration.
