What’s interesting here is that Iran cut off visits from Chinese tourists on Feb 1. Seems they knew something wasn’t right, long before they announced anything.

In reality they didn’t. They may have said that they stopped flights direct from China, but they were allowing their own people to return from China and allowing Chinese businessmen to come into Iran via other means - sometimes on IRGC chartered flights.
WHO is estimating that there are about 750 cases in Iran now (not yet tested).

Yea, but I was referring to a cutoff of tourists from Iran...it does seem as if they were trying to minimize the number of Chinese coming there.

It may seem that way, but they were enabling Chinese tourists any way they could. Some thru other countries that hadn’t yet cut off flights from China.
I assume they’ve cut them off in the past few days-maybe week.
Iran - 43cases... 8 deaths (officially)
However, I’m hearing that number is 18 dead (which would mean about 900 cases, if 2% case fatality rate)
