President Trump said late Thursday that he is considering Rep. Doug Collins, R-Ga., for the permanent Director of National Intelligence job, a move that could resolve a mini-crisis in the GOP surrounding Collins' challenge against incumbent Sen. Kelly Loeffler, R-Ga., in Georgia's upcoming special election.
Yet Collins told Fox Business Network's Maria Bartiromo on Friday morning that while he's humbled by the possible offer, he is focused on running for Senate and would not accept the job.
"This is not a job that interests me, at this time it's not one that I would accept because I'm running a Senate race down here in Georgia," Collins said.

Good. I rather he primary the Bush lapdog that is in there now. Collins would be a great senator.
Doug Collins understand he has the entire Kemp machine and establishment Georgia GOP against him. He has a chance to win the Senate seat but it is a mountain to climb. I intend to vote for him. He is very conservative, military and a strong Christian, all traits I want in a Senator.
He’s running for the Senate, and he’s a sitting congressman.
As much as I support President Trump, if I were on a good political track, I would not take a job in his administration. Turnover is pretty high.
I hope someone from the administration would have gauged him for interest before floating it publicly.
I’m free right now. Just sayin’.
Mitch only wants Bush League Republicans in his Senate.
Amnesty is the reason.
They are still determined to give away our country.
“I hope someone from the administration would have gauged him for interest before floating it publicly.”
I was thinking the same thing. Doing so without his buy-in is silly.
I'd vote for Collins if I was a GOP primary voter in Georgia ... but to be honest, I really don't see this particular race as a major priority. It's not like he and Loeffler are competing to run for a seat with a Democrat incumbent.
