Spending on an increasingly popular New York Medicaid program that lets the elderly and disabled hire people, including their own relatives, to care for them at home soared 85 percent between 2017 and 2018.
The Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program CDPAP for short is intended to keep people out of high-cost nursing homes and other institutions.
But a 2018 federal audit criticized New York for not keeping an eye on the program. New Yorks lack of effective monitoring of the CDPAP leaves the program vulnerable to misuse of federal funds and could potentially place beneficiaries at harm, the audit said.
CDPAP spending rose from $1.3 billion in 2017 to $2.4 billion in 2018. The state projects CDPAP spending will hit $2.8 billion by 2021. Thats just one reason New Yorks $73 billion Medicaid program is one of the costliest in the nation, second only to California...

Big spending, waste, and fraud are part of every Democrat city’s “Basic Rules of Operation”.
Oh, forgot “corruption”.
New Yorkers were dumb and decadent enough to elect the vile, cuckold Andrew Cuomo as their Governor. They deserve to suffer.
This money grab all started with Romney signing the “Masscare” into law . It was the precursor to the AAPPCA (obamacare) which is government controlling one of the biggest sections of our economy and either milking or floundering the cash away . How many towns have an independent doctor ? A general practitioner ? They have all merged because of the weight of regulation and coding complexity along with sue happy lawyers. Just watch the hacks will let it get to a breaking point and then the restictions will start . I screamed to anyone who would listen about the pitfalls of commiecare but alas too many Americans are ignorant of the peril’s of a mammoth government .
Cuomo’s legacy will be to set up such a structural deficit in NYS that it will go bankrupt.
A failed and mismanaged govt agency? Are we supposed to be surprised?

Yep, then he’ll ride off into the sunset when he’s done with it.
Upstate bump
When my Dad was still able to live on his own, the ladies from the ADRC hooked me up with a program that paid me to take care of my Dad...which I had already done for 10 years prior.
Had to fill out a time sheet and everything, and it ended up being about $80 a month and I could only get paid for helping him for X number of hours each week.
Nobody is going to get rich off of this, but, with most government boondoggles, the fraud is already baked into the cake. :(
Force NY to stop signing up all the scum to this program. Stop federal funding and make NY suck it up. That’ll return control most quickly.
