Last night was a train wreck for them. The disruptors in the audience seemed indecipherable.

The hardcore Democrats will choose someone from that crowd, of course.
But the winner needs to attract some Independents. I cannot imagine any "Independent" watching last night and thinking "I have found my candidate".
