Michael Tracey: Bloomberg Campaign ‘The Most Brazen, Oligarchic Intervention In The History Of American Electoral Politics’

Independent journalist Michael Tracey called former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s campaign “the most brazen, oligarchic intervention in the history of American electoral politics” during a Monday night appearance on “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”

Discussing the fact that Bloomberg has bought his way into near Democratic front runner status in lieu of traditional campaigning, Fox News host Tucker Carlson asked Tracey to analyze “what it means for the country.”

“Bloomberg rightly surmised that he was not going to go and ever win the presidency on the strength of his political convictions, because they are completely ugly and despicable and alien to much of the country, so what has he done?” Tracey asked before answering his own question by bringing up Bloomberg’s “vociferous focus purely on bashing Donald Trump.”

Instead of campaigning, the former New York City mayor is building his “constituency” on hatred for the president and the belief this his billions can beat Trump, Tracey contended.

“Bloomberg recognizes that,” he said. “He says, ‘Look, I’m uniquely equipped to beat Trump. I’m going to flood your daily consciousness with these tedious ads that have been market tested to press your emotional buttons,’ and that’s what he’s doing. It’s paying off.

Like you suggested, this is the most brazen, oligarchic intervention in the history of American electoral politics, and it’s not even close. It’s hugely disturbing. Whether you are on the right or left, anywhere in between, you should be incredibly alarmed at what’s going on here.” “And yet, you are one of the only people on the Internet saying this, which tells you how fully corporatized our media has become,” Carlson responded.

The Democrat Party picks who runs.

Things like primaries rubber stamp the Party’s selection.

The party diametrically & explicitly opposed to rich old white men buying elections is about to nominate a rich old white man buying an election.

I don’t see how this will add up to a winning number of EC votes.

Well, if MiniMikey joins forces with the evil DNC cabal, then he may just receive their approval.

When Bloomberg either doesn’t make it out of the convention or gets trounced in the general election the next billionaire will think twice about blowing his money on a fool’s errand. Better to spend your money on local races like Soros and cause rot from within. That’s actually pretty effective. Just look at San Francisco or Philadelphia.

“The Democrat Party picks who runs.”

Hence my tagline.

You can’t watch You Tube for 20 minutes without seeing a half dozen of Mini Mike’s ads. The only thing he’s accomplished in my house is to make me despise him even more. That’s quite an accomplishment, I didn’t think it was possible.

I can see that greedy, grasping DNC bunch just drooling over the prospect of getting their filthy paws on the Bloomberg stash. Think Hillary times 10 times 10.

That alone is enough to kick him to the curb.

I don't see how either.

Between the lying rectum Steyer, and the other super rich rat billionaire liar, Mini Mike!: It would appear to be a bit fairer if the DNC just put its POTUS nomination in an Ebay auction.

#Mini Mike, I can just buy and bury you dumb Democrat bitches/voters!

I don’t see Bloomberg’s act as much different from RFK swooping into the primaries in 1968 and taking the nomination away from the original antiwar liberal candidate at the time, Eugene McCarthy, albeit losing it all when he was assassinated the night of the CA primary.

(Full disclosure: I was a 14yo McCarthybot, despised what RFK was doing; I see my young and naively stupid self in the Berniebots of today. At least I grew up, though it took almost two decades.)

Bloomberg with his continuous TV ads is causing many TVs going the way of the shoe. I would also include the TV remotes going the way of the squashed mute button.

If I have enough gray matter, I'd like to compliment you on your good thinking.

I'm just hoping that this kind of "electing a President" does not work for the cold Mr. Bloomberg.

If Bloomberg ever gets to debate DJT....

A Trump strength is that he has an instinct for which buttons to push to make someone get unattractively bent out of shape. Here’s betting Bloomberg has some of those buttons and will get severely bent.

I'm 73 years old and I never thought I'd ever see a Presidential race like this.

Robotic Bloomberg's campaign should never happen (the Democrat voting public's general ignorance sure doesn't help). (jmo)

I was 21 years old that summer.

I remember that very well. However I remember Eugene McCarthy as a vastly more cerebral man, of greater worth that Bernie Sanders. (jmo)

By the way, Eugene McCarthy was a pretty good baseball player in his time.
