President Trump slaps back when Obama tries to take credit for today's economy

It’s been fascinating watching the Democrats try unavailingly to address the fact that the economy under President Trump has been rocket-fueled. That effort reached its apex on Monday when Barack Obama put out a tweet boasting about how it was his Recovery Act, which he signed on February 17, 2009, that not only saved the economy but laid the groundwork for its current strength. The responses to his tweet were swift, especially from President Trump.

One of the things that truly riles the Democrats is that President Trump has so much to crow about. And crow he did during his State of the Union address, making sure to distinguish his economic accomplishments from the Obama malaise.

During his speech, Trump boasted about 7 million new jobs, which is 5 million more than projected in the Obama years; the lowest unemployment rate in 50 years; the lowest unemployment rates ever for minorities; the lowest overall unemployment for women since WWII; the record number of working Americans; the contrast between food stamp rolls under Obama (10 million added) and under Trump (7 million subtracted, plus 10 million leaving welfare); the contrast between the workforce under Obama (300,000 Americans left it) versus Trump (3.5 million joined it); the 47% gain in wealth for the bottom half of wage earners, a result of their rising wages (“a blue-collar boom”); the highest ever real median household income; the soaring stock market; and the unprecedented growth in consumer confidence.

One of the funniest videos you will see today is Tom Steyer, who claims that Trump is presiding over a dismal economy, try to fight Martha Raddatz as she points out that, even if Trump’s lying about his economic numbers, Americans also happen to think that things are great:

It’s sad that that illegal alien and Kenyan fraud even opens his mouth after what he and his husband have done to our country.

OBAMA's TWEET:

Barack Obama

@BarackObama

Eleven years ago today, near the bottom of the worst recession in generations, I signed the Recovery Act, paving the way for more than a decade of economic growth and the longest streak of job creation in American history.

TRUMP's RESPONSE:

Donald J. Trump ✔
@realDonaldTrump

Did you hear the latest con job? President Obama is now trying to take credit for the Economic Boom taking place under the Trump Administration. He had the WEAKEST recovery since the Great Depression, despite Zero Fed Rate & MASSIVE quantitative easing. NOW, best jobs numbers....

Donald J. Trump

@realDonaldTrump

....ever. Had to rebuild our military, which was totally depleted. Fed Rate UP, taxes and regulations WAY DOWN. If Dems won in 2016, the USA would be in big economic (Depression?) & military trouble right now. THE BEST IS YET TO COME. KEEP AMERICA GREAT!

Too bad the POTUS couldn’t just physically slap him six ways to Sunday and then right on into a cell at GITMO....never to be seen, or heard from, again.

Instead of a “slap”, I would suggest an upper-cut followed by a right hook.

Poor Barry must be feeling irrelevant. I guess hanging with celebrities and chilling at a $15 million oceanfront home can only go so far?

It makes me smile when I hear the enemedia gently hint that Barry was a failure as president. And it makes me even happier to know President Trump is erasing most, if not all, of what Barry tried to do.

Jimmy Carter called Obama and chastised him because it was HIS policies that caused the economic boom now.

Obama boasted it was his "Recovery Act" of 2009, that saved the US economy and laid the groundwork for its current strength.

The idiot's stuck in the past......10 years have come and gone since the (gag) Recovery Act.

He'll never admit Donald's been in charge of the economy.......not him.

For 8 years Obama stated it was Bush’s failed economy for his lousy economy, now he’s saying all along it was his economy that is the continuation into Trump’s economy? But the media says the economy is horrible under Trump-— You can’t make this up!

Economic recoveries take about 2 years.
Obama’s took ~10 years.
The economy recovered _despite_ Obama, not because of him.

bammy: worse/slowest recovery ever in spite of trillions in spending.

President Trump: takes the regulatory shackles off and the economy explodes.

So, he signed legislation in less than a month as president and he takes credit for that - wow - guess he’s looking for another Nobel Prize, this time in economics!

Steve Scalise

@SteveScalise

With an economy this good, it's no wonder Barack Obama is trying to take credit.

But I believe the saying is: "You didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.”@realDonaldTrump made that happen.

Mr. Obama: You didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen.

The only thing he has said that was true, it just needed to be used in the right context.

It takes a TRULY pathetic individual to claim credit for tremendous accomplishments when, under THEIR aegis, many major parameters of a quality life were quite dismal--unemployment was high, insurance was manipulated to make it unaffordable, taxes were higher, criminality was high, poor race relations were inflamed--you name it, it was a reign of despair. The deeds performed by Trump, like a true maestro at the head of a world-class orchestra, were made to look easy--all while battling a determined group of sleazy traitorous operants led by another kind of "maestro"--one of evil intent toward our nation. THAT is the attempt at "achievement" by this brown streak on the underwear of America. Operating like a marauding spider from the dank shadows of our government to puppeteer traitors within, while an otherwise hypnotized America just sat there stupefied by his poison, he sought to bring our country to its knees. When the country, under a great leader at last, began to emerge from its 8 years of darkness, this mucus-trailing human stain then puts up HIS hand to claim credit. What an attempt at stolen valor--the only kind you could ever have.

Get the heck OUTTA here, you piece of excrement. Go on banking on your name to still-susceptible idiots to make your ill-gotten millions; I spit on you.

Here’s how I remember it.

Obama: Going out of business signs, and empty store fronts everywhere.

Trump: More HELP WANTED signs than I have ever seen. Even advertising on TV for new employees.

In all fairness, Obama DID provide President Trump with all of the unemployed.....they needed to be there in order to take all of the new jobs.
