The Boy Scouts of America filed for bankruptcy Tuesday in what it said was an effort to safeguard compensation payouts for sexual abuse victims.
The organization has been accused of covering up generations of abuse inflicted on thousands of its young members and failing to do enough to root out pedophiles using the youth movement to prey on minors over its 110-year history.

The story said that the abuse has been going on for several generations. Has it happened more frequently since they decided to allow gays into the organization? I don’t know.
It’s funny how the story mentions pedophiles, but won’t dare to use the word homosexual.
If the end result is that corporate national Scouts of America (new name, isn't it?) is destroyed, then that's great. Districts can return to doing their own fund-raising instead of watching all the national fund-raising going to the corporate organization.

Homosexuals infiltrated the Scouts years ago, sadly caused by a decline in fathers being involved in leadership roles. In 1972, my last year as a Cub Scout, one of the moms became our leader as no father would volunteer. Without a lack of fathers participating, they gladly accepted any adult male who wanted to volunteer. The proper response to the scandal would have been a complete prohibition on unmarried men as leaders, not inviting more homosexuals. People who would never allow a man to lead a group of girls on overnight camping trips, turned a blind eye to the risks posed by the involvement of homosexual men. The Scouts went from being merely negligent, to fully participant in their own destruction.
As someone who was a a Boy scout in Florida in the 60’s, and an Assistant Den Leader for my son’s cub scout group in Columbus Ga , ( our Den Leader was a Col who flew Medevac Hueys in Vietnam and Blackhawk Medevacs in the First Gulf War), I’d like to point out how scouting helped many kids have great values and a path to success as adults. My dad built tracking and comm gear for the space program. This is Scoutings contribution to that program.
Of the 24 men to travel to the moon on the Apollo 9 through Apollo 17 missions , 21 were Scouts, including 10 of the 12 men who physically walked on the moon’s surface, and all three members of the crew of Apollo 13. Three traveled to the Moon twice.
All three of the astronauts who died in the Apollo 1 fire, four of the seven who died in the Challenger launch explosion, and five of the seven who died in the Columbia re-entry explosion were Scouts.
Of the 312 pilots and scientists selected as astronauts since 1959, at least 207 have been identified as having been Scouts or active in Scouting. The list includes 39 Eagle Scouts, 25 Life Scouts, 14 Star Scouts, 26 First Class Scouts, 17 Second Class Scouts, 13 Tenderfoot Scouts, 3 Explorers, 25 Cub Scouts, 10 Webelos Scouts, 1 King’s Scout, 2 Wolf Scouts, and 32 with unknown ranks, including 27 who were Girl Scouts.
So scouting’s impact on the Space program is that 2/3rds of the people from western society that have gone into space spent time in their youth learning self discipline, self sufficiency, and helping others to achieve.
How do we resurrect this organization and give future kids guidance?
