Michael Bloomberg rocked by re-emergence of sexist remarks
The Guardian ^ | 02/15/2020 | Martin Pengelly

The presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg has insisted he is a “champion for women in the workplace”, after the republication of a 30-year-old booklet purporting to contain his “Wit and Wisdom” cast an uncomfortable spotlight on the billionaire former New York mayor.

The Washington Post made the 1990 booklet available online as it published an investigation of how Bloomberg has “for years battled women’s allegations of profane, sexist comments”. The booklet was presented as a gift to Bloomberg on his 48th birthday party and contains a catalogue of sexist remarks attributed to the billionaire during his time at the company he founded.

The renewed attention on Bloomberg – who has for years been the subject of allegations that his company fostered a hostile and sexist environment towards women – comes as he has surged in the race for the Democratic nomination to face Donald Trump in November.

With the leftwinger Bernie Sanders climbing in national polls and former vice-president Joe Biden falling away, Bloomberg’s self-financed candidacy has begun to attract support from moderates seeking what they believe will be an electable alternative to Donald Trump.

On Saturday the rightwing Drudge Report website caused a stir when it said “sources close to the Bloomberg campaign” said he was considering Hillary Clinton, the Democratic candidate beaten by Trump in 2016, as his running mate this year.

But with such increasing prominence, fuelled in part by a massive TV and Facebook advertising effort, has come increasing scrutiny of the former Republican’s record in office and his comments and views.

The Dems are really struggling to raise money compared to Trump......
...........
Sanders isn’t a full member Dem, officially an Independent party Senator, doesn’t play well with the Dems, hated by the Dem ruling class........
.............
Will get accurately painted as a communist if he gets nominated.
...............
The Dems know that Sanders, with heart troubles, will get destroyed by Trump, and the landslide will likely cost the Dems the House majority.
.............
Mayor Pete......too young.......not even any statewide experience.........and the Dems know that our country ain’t ready for him and his spouse to start kissing at the Dem Convention.........
.............
Can you picture that?
...........
Hey I know! Let’s get behind the Dem version of Trump! Let’s get Mikey! With Hilary at the VP. Announce that Joe will be Secretary of State.
..............
That brings the Obamas, the Clintons........ We’re in the money, we’re in the money.......

Bloomy, the crapetbagger from Mass, was a life long DEM, ; however, when he wanted to run for mayor of NYC, the Dem field was GIGANTIC, so he ran as a pretend GOPPER and won that nomination and then, the mayoralty.

Bloomy was NEVER a GOPPER, but he used the GOP and that's bad enough for today's Dems to go ballistic on him. LOL

It’s a tradition in NYC. La Guardia was an FDR supporting New Dealer. John Lindsey was one of the last liberal Republicans and later made an official switch to Democrat.

Dem women will just say “Boss of the Year” “What a guy!” “He’s trying to defeat Trump so it’s okay.”

The harrasser rapist suspect Bill Clinton met with fainting, cheering Dem women who tried to touch his clothes if they couldn’t shake his hand.

Trump is an alpha male, is ruggedly handsome, and is a bit of rogue, well maybe a little more than a bit. His cheeky remarks about women fit his persona and some women can look past them because they like a bad boy who at heart is really not all that bad.

Bloomberg is just a dweeb and his alleged remarks about women, which are far worse than Trump’s, make him come off like a total cad.

Here in South Carolina and I’m fairly sure in Nevada, Mini Mike Bloomberg and Tom Steyer ads run constantly on TV and radio. Probably not the most ever but the most annoying quantity I can remember. Those ads run so often if I were and undecided voter, I would be put off by both of them. People in other states are in for a treat as after our states’ primaries are done, they’re going to get the full blitz.

California may have to add more stations just to handle the ads from those two.

Supposedly, about the salesman line, that is basically how PUA work; with a little more attention to tone of voice & body language. It’s a numbers game, where even the best of the best succeed on average, they themselves admit, about 3% of the time.

It's how a lot of people get successful: persist (and always try to improve your techniques) until you finally succeed. Just keep trying until you find somebody willing to give you a chance.

Lindsay never switched parties like Bloomberg. He was what we used to call a Rockefeller Republican. Your comment is off base.

From Lindsey's New York Times obit:

But even as these problems were ballooning, Mr. Lindsay, urged on by a coterie of ambitious political aides, was becoming a Democrat and running for president. His 1972 race for the Democratic presidential nomination barely got off the ground. Defeated in the Florida and Wisconsin primaries, he withdrew and cast his support to Senator George S. McGovern, who was overwhelmed by Richard M. Nixon in the general election. By 1973, his last year in office, Mr. Lindsay had become a more seasoned, pragmatic mayor. Having moved from Republican congressman to Liberal mayor to Democratic presidential contender, ...,

I’m talking about his career as mayor. I have no interest once he left office. Bloomberg switched while in office. He’s changed 3 times in his lifetime.

Lindsey did not run as a Republican for his second term. From Wiki:

In 1969, a backlash against Lindsay caused him to lose the Republican mayoral primary to state Senator John J. Marchi, who was enthusiastically supported by Buckley and the party's conservative wing. In the Democratic primary, the most conservative candidate, City Comptroller Mario Procaccino, defeated several more liberal contenders and won the nomination with only a plurality of the votes. "The more the Mario", he quipped. Procaccino, who ran to Lindsay's right, went on to coin the term "limousine liberal" to describe Lindsay and his wealthy Manhattan backers. Despite losing the Republican nomination, Lindsay remained on the ballot as the candidate of the New York Liberal Party.

No it isn't; get a grip.

La Guardia was a VERY good mayor, was NEVER a DEM, and he knew how to "play" FDR or any president, to get what was needed in NYD...it's the way this "game" is played.

And John V. Lindsay ( learn how to spell his last name correctly! ) actually hid his crazy side from even his closest and oldest "friends"...until he was elected and on the job for a while! Yes, he was never a died in the wool/rabid conservative; however, he was NEVER a crazed lefty before! And then, all of a sudden...BOOM! he went completely and utterly off the lefty cliff, siding with the Black Panthers and worse. It was all rather something right out of a Tom Wolfe book!

I don't know how old you are, if you ever lived in Manhattan, but I doubt you knew John V.; but I did!

Actually, Nelson was much farther to the RIGHT than John V. was before he took the lefty ACID! But don't forget that his Congressional seat was THE SILK STOCKING district. ;^)

But yes, he didn't change his party affiliation until his second term, when he knew he was termed out, re ever running again to be mayor.

You have less than NO idea how many different party lines are on a NYC ballot, nor how many lines a candidate can and DO run on! Just give it up; you are trusting teensy bits that you found on line, without understanding any of it, to argue with REAL New Yorkers who know and understand what they’re talking about...not to mention the fact that one person, ME, actually knew Lindsay before and after he went nutso lefty!

Here is the $64 question: Like the Kavanaugh hearing, someone dredges up stupidity said by someone from 30 years ago, in this case actually written down, instead of hearsay.

Will the morons on the Left believe it? They did, last time.

I never said La Guardia wasn't a good mayor. He was definitely anti-Tammany Hall.

I'm surprised how much support John V. has on this conservative website. I don't doubt he was a nice guy - just wrong.
