Just about every male over 60 knows about this, as an ACE-inhibitor is used to treat hypertension. I’m taking lisinopril, and it works fine with few side effects now that I’ve been on it for a couple of years. I had rashes and flaking skin after I started, but that went away. Some people can’t tolerate it because it makes them cough.
There are ACE-receptor blockers, but they work on Type 1 receptors, and this virus seems to target Type 2 receptors. Otherwise, a receptor blocker would be a good way to keep the virus from attaching to the target cell.
Does this mean that ACE2 inhibitor might be useful?

So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

I want to see more studies that are based on more complete data. I am not convinced this is more than reversed-engineered statistics from the small statistical universe we currently have.
But I suppose this is progress of some sort. Taking with a grain of salt, for the moment, the “incomplete study” and so on and so forth, at least there is now some basis for the people that say Asians are more susceptible to hang their hats on.
But even this does not explain the lack of reports from Africa and Central America. I’m sticking with “nobody really knows what’s happening there” until I see otherwise.
