WASHINGTON - There were two views Thursday night on Attorney General William Barr's complaints about President Donald Trump's tweets targeting the Justice Department and they couldn't have been more distinct: Supporters of the Trump administration took Barr at face value and praised him. Critics thought he was faking it.
"The attorney general says it's getting in the way of doing his job," Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., told Fox News anchor Bret Baier. "Maybe the president should listen to the attorney general."
"Barr doesn't care where it takes him," House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., said to Fox's Sean Hannity. "He just looks for justice."
Barr's detractors didn't think the attorney general was looking for justice. Rather, many thought he objected to Trump's tweets because they expose the administration's true motives.
"I have no doubt that when the president tweets, he is causing problems for the Attorney General," Rep. Val Demings, D-Fla., who served as a manager in Trump's impeachment proceedings, said in a tweet late Thursday.
"But he's not making it harder for Barr to do the right thing, he's making it harder for him to get away with doing the wrong thing."
On CNN, Demings also speculated that Barr and Trump were "in cahoots."

Demings, "Go a couple miles down the road, turn left at The Post Turtle Inn ......... and Cahoots is about five miles down the road."
i support PDJT not tweeting about criminal cases in trial
I am very concerned, however, that Barr went public about this. He has access to PDJT anything he wants and could have better, much better, just asked Trump about it directly.
____
...... clear that up for me, Val. I'm sure you meant well.

Barr whines about the media spinning what Trump says. Then he goes on ABC Fake News and they spin it worse and an even bigger uproar is created. Barr, stop whining on going on Fake News Channels.
Barr said in his confirmation hearing he was taking the job to protect the DOJ and FBI.
That’s what he is doing.
True justice would require mass firing of dishonest prosecutors and FBIAS, that’s not happening.
Val Demings, a NASTY incompetent FAILED impeachment manager, put on the team of DOPES because of her black skin.
When this very angry woman speaks, every word out of her ugly mouth literally DRIPS with visceral hatred. Every word.
You cant fix stupid, and you cant fix NASTY.
I am going to respect both Trump and Barr on this matter. Trump has a right to be unconventional and to speak his mind, but I think Barr’s comments also were well taken. In this one case I hope the president will control his comments better so Barr can stay on the job.
Contrary to what many may think, I firmly believe that if Trump does not heed his Attorney General’s advice, Barr will absolutely walk away.
Trump is venting his frustration with a DOJ that isn’t doing anything and he is mirroring our own frustration!
Exactly, why were these 4 Mueller lawyers till on the payroll?
I am very concerned, however, that Barr went public about this. He has access to PDJT anything he wants and could have better, much better, just asked Trump about it directly.
________
I hear you.
This Stone matter need not get any more complicated than it is now.
I say let Mr. Barr deal with this Stone matter.
If DJT has something to talk about concerning Roger, he should meet with the A.G. and hash it out.
But, I have no idea how D.C. works.
______
... yes.
+100!!
Please tell us just what has Barr accomplished after being in the job for a year now? How many indictments and how many convictions has he got?
____________
Agreed.
Contrary to what many may think, I firmly believe that if Trump does not heed his Attorney Generals advice, Barr will absolutely walk away.
____________
I fear that you are right. In Mr. Barr's voice I heard a regretful TONE when he mentioned that the tweets (about the DOJ) were 'making his job impossible'. A shiver went through me.
I have been thinking that William Barr is on the right side of things. I may be wrong about that. Maybe I have been too optimistic.
But, when I heard Barr's voice saying those words ...... it sounded like we may be in for darker days soon looking for another A.G.
The Bush League Republicans in the Senate made it clear that they would only confirm Swamp dwellers.
Barr was the AG in charge during Ruby Ridge.
He protected the FBI then just like he is protecting them now.
Thinking he would clean house was wishful thinking as evidenced by the dearth of housecleaning at the DOJ and FBIAS.
All those corrupt people still have jobs or are now getting their fat pensions.
In order to protect everyone both legally and politically, both President Trump and AG Barr are best served if they can maintain a posture where they can always truthfully state -- both now and at any time in the future -- that they have had no conversations about active DOJ cases.
