Chinas state-run media reported Feb. 3 that Chinese troops started to assist with deliveries of essential supplies to Wuhan, the coronavirus-stricken city of 9 million in central Chinas Hubei Province.
According to China Central Television (CCTV), soldiers of the Peoples Liberation Army (PLA) Hubei Garrison in the Central Theater Command deployed to Wuhan on Feb. 2, where their first task was to transport more than 200 metric tons (about 220 tons) of goods to the citys supermarkets.
The previous day, the Peoples Liberation Army Daily reported that Chen Wei, Chinas top expert in biological warfare, has been leading the efforts to overcome the deadly, pneumonia-like pathogen for the last nine days.
Chinese authorities confirmed the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) on Dec. 31, 2019, but recently published studies show that the first patient was diagnosed on Dec. 1. So far, the virus has spread to at least 27 countries, while all provinces and regions of China have confirmed cases.
Wuhan is the provincial capital of Hubei. With the virus spreading, all of Hubei and its more than 58 million residents are under quarantine, as well as at least three major cities in coastal Zhejiang Province. The two provinces do not share a common border.

You know its bad when the army is deployed.
Communist China wouldn’t know the truth if it bit them in the ass.
Bring Out Your DeadHu, uh, Who better qualified?
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.
Live GIS map on ‘official’ numbers. I’m betting it’s 5 times these stats in reality.

Nahhh, they do this every time a China-man sneezes...
The last time the Chinese military was sent to a Chinese city to “help” we got the Tianamen Square massacre. They may be there to assist the in the rounding up and detention of dissidents.
Ten Cent let out a picture of some sort of tabulation board that showed 24k people sick and 25k or so dead. It came down quickly. Local people have transmitted many surreptitious videos that appear to show a situation far more serious than is indicated in government numbers.
Never let a crisis go to waste.
“Chinese troops started to assist with deliveries of essential supplies to Wuhan”
Ah yes, “essential supplies”, delivered at high velocity directly to the infected, I bet.
Wuhan has 9 million people? Wasn’t it said to be 11 million people not too long ago?
Thought it was more than both numbers you mentioned?
24k should be 240k. Other local sources claim 1.5m sick.
These are not regular PLA troops.
They are what is called WuJing. No, not armed police as Google translates it, but are the same units that ran over the students years ago. Think of the worst KGB and multiply many times.
They are never from the same province to which they are deployed, to avoid any conflict of interests when they must kill the locals.
Sometimes you see their cars on the highways there, as their license plates start with WJ instead of the city or province plates like everyone else. People know who and what they are, and avoid them like The Reaper.
.
so instead of stealing a month from the world, they stole two months? So the great migration for a Chinese holiday wouldn’t be interrupted by a little guy bringing bad news to the big guy?
