Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump
When I terminated John Kelly, which I couldnt do fast enough, he knew full well that he was way over his head. Being Chief of Staff just wasnt for him. He came in with a bang, went out with a whimper, but like so many Xs, he misses the action & just cant keep his mouth shut,.
...which he actually has a military and legal obligation to do. His incredible wife, Karen, who I have a lot of respect for, once pulled me aside & said strongly that John respects you greatly. When we are no longer here, he will only speak well of you. Wrong! 11:04 AM · Feb 13, 2020
GOOD QUESTION
Misses the spotlight? Misses being in the center of power?
ALL 4 stars are men of ego. They have to be.
But something has really perverted their sense of honor and loyalty to the CinC.
A toad like that 0-5 Vindman would not have lasted 1 day under Gen Kelly if he bucked the chain of command and went over his head to file a complaint against him
I feel bad for Mrs Kelly, the General too. They lost their son.
But this interview by Kelly was unjust, disloyal and lacked honor.
It's to encourage the others.
Sorry, but that is a very simple-minded take. There is a vast gulf between using Twitter to balance the narrative and get out your side of the story and using it as a channel to lob petty personal insults. It is possible to strike the right balance and use it only for the former and avoid the latter. As it stands, instead of using it strategically as a precision weapon, it is being used as a spray paint attack machine at full blast with no dials.
It gets to the heart of the issue. We’d leave him alone if he’d just stop being himself and fall in line. It’s nonsense. It’s anti Freedom. He should be able to tweet whatever he wants without having the government and the bureaucracy undermining him as a result
Theres a lot wrong with that statement, but I will merely disagree.
I thought he just forgot the Sarcasm tag.
If Trump loses, the number one cause will be his inability to control himself on Twitter. Twitter could be his Waterloo.
I totally disagree. You are advocating for the sad, limp-wristed, lose like a gentleman, thoroughly discredited, and effeminate GOPe tactics.
Now tell me how bad tariffs are.
It is not one vs the other. It is a matter of striking the right balance.
Kelly didn’t just make some offhand comment. The Cowardly POS got up in an auditorium and went into lllong detail on a range of topics about how he thinks Trump sucks and defended Vindman, the Navy guys persecuting Gallagher, etc.
Why is our military leadership so full of traitors throwing roadblocks at the president?
Anyone who doubts the military leaders would enthusiastically participate in action against the American people needs their head examined.
This crap is so beneath the Office of the President.
Pierre Delecto, is that you?
See post #43.
So he should just take the shots, which by the way were uninvited and totally unnecessary on the part of Kelly.
Trump said at the time he announced his running that he was a counter puncher. What that means is if you take a shot at him you can expect one back.
And he did not disparage Kelly’s wife. He merely repeated what she said.
Seems like so many people who worked for him think Trump is terrible.
He obviously needs to choose better staffers, more obsequious and yielding.
Like the other guy said, the last thing Trump needs is to listen to the carnival barkers on the sidelines giving advice. You can be confident, Trump don’t need your advice.
“There is a vast gulf between using Twitter to balance the narrative and get out your side of the story and using it as a channel to lob petty personal insults.”
Not really. Ridicule is a powerful tool and trump uses it well. The plaintive while of “stop tweeting” is people who want that patrician Bush attitude back. They want arguments better placed in National Review and American Thinker.
Sometimes, hell often, the Stooge style eye poke is best.
That’s not what nwrep is saying at all. Again, typical response on FR, attack the message and messenger for disagreeing with POTUS’s childish, inappropriate behavior.
So let’s here YOUR idea of hoe the president should have responded to what Kelly said. And keep in mind Kelly has done this sort of thing before.
So then, let’s hear it.
If Trump wins, the number one cause will be his ability to get past the filters on Twitter.
If Trump loses, the number one cause will be his inability to filter himself on Twitter.
While generally positive, and often an eventual net positive while not obviously so, it is also a mixed bag.
And 10 to 1 this means Kelly is working for a Democrat candidate.
The flies help transmit the disease.
You're right, we should have nominated a nice guy like Jeb Bush. Of course he would have lost to President Hillary Clinton by not defending himself. Don't go changin Donald.
