On appeal a lawyer could bring up that Trump’s rhetoric inflamed the Judge who then went overboard and gave the maximum sentence.

What the hell are you talking about? If it could be said that Trump (an outside interest) influenced a judge to through the book at Stone, that is solid grounds to throw the sentence out and start over. That would be in Stone's interest, AKA a good thing.
