Facebook Inc said on Wednesday it has reached an agreement with news agency Reuters, a unit of Thomson Reuters Corp, to fact-check content posted on the social media platform and its photo-sharing app Instagram.
Under pressure to remove fake news on its platform ahead of the U.S. presidential elections, Facebook started a U.S. pilot program in December to detect misinformation faster.
A newly created unit at Reuters will fact-check user-generated photos, videos, headlines and other content for Facebook’s U.S. audience in both English and Spanish, the news agency said in a statement. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Facebook works with seven other fact-checking partners in the United States, including Associated Press and Agence France-Presse.

Okay so I am on a thread on Facebook with a cartoonists who was once a Muslim but broke free from Islam. He gets “I will kill you” death threats from Muslims all live long day. What does FB say “These comments do not violate our community of standards!” Bull! I used the word “Tranny” and was suspended for 3 days. So if you are a muslim you can make death threats no problem.
Censorship continues to increase in America.
A few years ago one of my former pastors put up a post that was arguably anti- same sex marriage. I sent him a private message saying he should be careful what he posts or he would get in trouble. Sure enough, I then got a response from Facebook saying that my private message was inappropriate for the Facebook community and both I and the pastor were on the bad list.
??? How can a PRIVATE message be offensive? What the hell! Yeah so their commitment to standards then is all complete BS. Depends who the SPEAKER is, who the AUDIENCE is, AND what you say. If you are white and say something offensive = bad books. If you are Muslim, all forgiven.
Why don’t any of them hire FreeRepublic to do the fact checking? Jim Rob would make some money and this huge cadre of FR cub reporters and investigators would be happy to do the research. I guarantee you’d get a lot more REAL fact checking with our team on the job.
