A teacher is NOT an academic . Teachers can be really dumb though (smart ones do exist) . I worked with some in a summer program that helped them maintain their credentials.

SOME teachers. My daughter has an IQ well above mine. She has a Masters degree in Early Childhood Education and is working on her Ph.D.
She has a wonderful job teaching at a private (non-union) school.
Raised in my home by me and my wife, she is no snowflake.
She knows how to handle a firearm and has a fully functional BS Detector installed.
And she's a marvelous photographer.
She's an amazing person. And she's only 27 years old.

But I do agree...there are far too many teachers who represent the other end of the spectrum.

Public schools are a common-sense free zone. They spend more time observing the rules and mandates passed down to them from on-high than they do exercising their common-sense. Who can blame them? The downside for not following federal & state guidelines concerning security threats (no matter how ridiculous) are a career-ender.
