Georgia health officials announced on Tuesday that roughly 200 residents were self-monitoring for the coronavirus after recently returning from China.
None of the residents have shown symptoms of the virus or visited Hubei province -- the epicenter of the outbreak.
Health officials reportedly didn't use the word quarantine, instead, phrasing it that people are being isolated in their homes for 14 days, which is considered the virus's incubation period, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. A new paper by Chinese scientists says the period could be as long as 24 days.
Officials have reportedly been calling each traveler, letting them know of the potential symptoms of the virus and the importance of staying at home during the timeframe. Residents under quarantine were given an online tool that notifies them when their isolation time is up, according to the AJC.

Not just Chinese scientists either. I hope the health dept in GA is aware of this. I wrote them yesterday with some of this info. My son works at various hospitals in a non-healthcare role, but this affects him. In some ways it may be even worse because hospitals don’t include people like him in their plan. For example he had to do some work I’m isolation rooms the either day, and they never told him what they were and that he needed different PPE.
I think it's important that you sent a letter and will have an effect, but health officials are constrained in so many ways.

We import a fairly large amount of O&G chemicals from China, and we discussed the problems related to corona. The thesis of the meeting was China stockpiles are at best three months of products and the supply chain on the manufacturing side is broken. They have entire regions of people on lockdown and not reporting for work.
The reason I bring this to the board is a lot of factories we buy from are in regions that also produce a lot of the materials needed for medicines for the world. A LOT of medicines. Like antibiotics. What they are producing is being consumed for their population. Force majeure is in place already and they are breaking contracts left and right. There was a story relayed from an LNG client that one of their ships is stuck in port because there are no dock workers to unload it.
U.S. has been outsourcing for years to China and it’s about to cause major problems.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

I agree and thank you. I told my husband the other that I bet GA would have a cluster pretty soon because Atlanta is one of the 11 processing airports, and has a huge Asian population.
I’m also writing news outlets, sometimes public outcry can do a lot to nudge the powers that be. You would think the CDC wouldn’t want this in their backyard.
What all this means is that China is going to power through the pandemic at gunpoint, forcing workers to run the machines until they literally drop dead. At that point, rapid response cremation teams will scurry away with the bodies and heave them into mass ovens that are already running 24/7.
China will soon dispense will all safety gear such as hazmat suits, masks and gloves. For one thing, eliminating the gear creates the (false) impression that the virus no longer exists. But more importantly, the government has already come to realize that everyone is going to be exposed sooner or later. They know that roughly 85% will survive exposure and 15% will die. The 85% will be able to come into contact with the virus even while wearing no safety gear, since they’ve already been exposed and cured. According to media reports, even China’s own military and police personnel are already largely infected. It’s getting to the point where wearing protective gear is pointless.
Effectively, the Chinese government has now decided to run a massive medical experiment called, “expose everyone and see what happens.” They figure they can still survive after a 15% mortality rate, especially since Chinese citizens own no guns and have no First Amendment freedoms to speak out.

We wont fly thru Atlanta now thanks to it being
little Hong Kong .
They came in thru the University GA Tech Emory and UGA and never leave and then they drag the entire village with them .
This had to be stopped .
And in a week you get the less sensational headline that 198 of them are cleared.
Cleared of what? They aren’t being tested, just told to self-quarantine.
So what?
