Since you like word science, you should see how the translation of the Book of Mormon fits in a translation of different authors and not as a fictional story.

I have to rely on the word scientists to understand that minor proof of the truth of the Book of Mormon, but I think it should be a biggy for those of you who have word scientists between you and the Word of God in the Bible.

If you survive the catastrophic chaos following the sudden removal of tens of millions of Christians in the Rapture, remember, Do Not Accept The Mark when commanded to you, because I seriously doubt you have seven years stored up in food, etc. and if you do someone will be taking it from you. Do Not Take The Mark when commanded to you.

What on earth are you talking about??

I hope your nn-English speaking LDS members have complete faith in what their Spanish, German, Japanese ETAL BoM's say; for all they got is a translation of a 'translation'.

You have to rely on the accuracy of ONE man; Joseph Smith; that what was on the plates, got rendered into 17th century English properly.

One man; who, when 116 pages of his translation got stolen; was afraid to retranslate his work.

I can think of only ONE reason: that it would NOT match what was translated before.

To the Reader

As many false reports have been circulated respecting the following work, and also many unlawful measures taken by evil designing persons to destroy me, and also the work, I would inform you that I translated, by the gift and power of God, and caused to be written, one hundred and sixteen pages, the which I took from the Book of Lehi, which was an account abridged from the plates of Lehi, by the hand of Mormon; which said account, some person or persons have stolen and kept from me, notwithstanding my utmost exertions to recover it again—and being commanded of the Lord that I should not translate the same over again, for Satan had put it into their hearts to tempt the Lord their God, by altering the words, that they did read contrary from  that which I translated and caused to be written; and if I should bring forth the same words again, or, in other  words, if I should translate the same over again, they would publish that which they had stolen, and Satan would stir up the hearts of this generation, that they might not receive this work: but behold, the Lord said unto me, I will not suffer that Satan shall accomplish his evil design in this thing: therefore thou shalt translate from the plates of Nephi, until ye come to that which ye have translated, which ye have retained; and [p. [iii]] behold ye shall publish it as the record of Nephi; and thus I will confound those who have altered my words. I will not suffer that they shall destroy my work; yea, I will shew unto them that my wisdom is greater than the cunning of the Devil. Wherefore, to be obedient unto the commandments of God, I have, through his grace and mercy, accomplished that which he hath commanded me respecting this thing. I would also inform you that the plates of which hath been spoken, were found in the township of Manchester, Ontario county, New-York.
The Author. [p. iv]

Both the plates and the Urim and Thummim were taken from me … ; but in a few days they were returned to me, … and the Lord said thus unto me:

“Now, behold, I say unto you, that because you delivered up those writings … into the hands of a wicked man, you have lost them.

“And you also lost your gift [of translation] at the same time, and your mind became darkened.

“Nevertheless, it is now restored unto you again; therefore see that you are faithful and continue on unto the finishing of the remainder of the work of translation as you have begun.” (D&C 10:1–3.)

The Lord told Joseph Smith that the people who stole the manuscript planned to change some of the words. If Joseph translated the same plates again, the thieves would show the pages they had altered and say that Joseph wasn’t a prophet because the two translations weren’t identical. The Lord long ago commanded the Book of Mormon prophet Nephi to prepare a second set of plates covering the same things, and He told Joseph to translate this set, instead.

(See History of the Church, vol. 1, pages 18–24; The History of Joseph Smith, Lucy Mack Smith, pages 128, 133.)

Joseph; the stolen words in YOUR handwriting; were they not?

Did you REALLY think the thief(s) would be able to copy your HANDWRITING; too?

Do Mormons ever wonder what was in the  second set of plates?
Wonder they tell a DIFFERENT story than the FIRST set?

'Tis a confounding conundrum; ain't it!
