The Wages of Trump Derangement

How many conservatives have experienced something like this: A friend who knows you are a conservative, a Trump supporter and/or that you are not a global warming hysteric, sends you an email, out of the blue, profanely attacking the President or Rush Limbaugh and you as a conservative or as a climate change denier. This person does this wholly without provocation. You have long avoided ever discussing politics with this person. Maybe you've sent that person a friendly "how are you" and you get back a tirade peppered with ad hominem attacks. He or she may even accuse you of being a terrible parent or grandparent because you support the current President. They are clearly angry with you without cause but for your political views. Trump derangement is so serious that people are ending friendships that are decades long - over political differences! This past week sent the blinkered democrats 'round the bend.

President Trump's SOTU speech was sensational, so glorious and moving that the Democrats in the room suffered a severe and collective meltdown. By the end of the speech they had all lost any sense of decorum, manners, and respect for the event, the chamber, Congress, the President, or the American people. Nancy Pelosi has demeaned herself in the past, but she hit a new low that night by ostentatiously tearing up her copy of the speech for all to see. And if the magnificence of the speech wasn’t bad enough, presenting the Medal of Freedom to Rush Limbaugh sent them into bansheeland. Intolerant leftists began lashing out at any friends they felt were complicit in their inevitable defeat by supporting the President and for revering Rush. Then came the acquittal, a surprise to no one but the bubble people, and it further enraged them.

The only social media I’m on is FB and ALL of my very few “friends” (about 25) are blood relatives or relatives related by marriage. Period.

If ANY of them (& there are a couple that I know voted for Obama & at least one Bernie Bro - majority are staunch Conservatives/MAGA folks) sent me a nasty message or post, I would take the action James Woods takes on his twitter feed i.e. #INSTABLOCK .... I don’t care who they are, I am sick and tired of people lying about “everything Trump/Conservative” & sucking the joy out of life.

The non-MAGA folks in my family are keeping their heads down, probably because they are vastly out numbered.

My younger brother attacked me in that manner. I’m 70, he is 65. That sort of squabbling should be too undignified for him, but is isn’t.

I have been unable to talk my extended family into breaking with Facebook. I just don’t understand why people stay with them.

I like seeing the grandchildren. I do unfollow them. But I occasionally get in a debate with my 79 year old brother. But I know he’ll still go to dinner with me occa. Only brother left.

Yes. I’ve had this very thing happen to me. Lost a childhood friend , who out of the blue decided I was an ‘’apologist for the right’’. I said “Well, I guess that makes you a useful idiot for the Left’’. And that was that. A life time friendship ended.

I don't have any liberal friends, but I still have a few acquaintances that are liberal, but civil about politics.

I have one liberal brother, but he voted for Trump in NC in 2016 so we're still on friendly terms.

The irrational liberals that go berserk over Trump are not welcome in my home, and I have no reason to visit them and become involved in a screaming match.

When I go in a public place and have my Trump stuff on, I always carry, but while I have situational awareness, I do not look for any trouble. If they leave me alone, it's all good.

You’re quite tolerant. I have no liberal friends. I shoot dead people suffering from TDS. It simplifies life. TDS is like rabies, why mess with it. I don’t even find it amusing. Besides, their carcasses seem to corrupt twice as fast. I keep a good supply of quick lime on hand.
