Read about the Algerian Strategy folks.
This is why Dems are going all out to protect criminals and throwing the border open.

“Buttigieg is saying possession of heroin and meth would be legal, but the distribution would not be legal.”

That would seem to bring on the worst of two worlds. On the one hand, addictions would increase. On the other hand, drug lords would continue to be protected from competition, so that they could continue to do their nasty business.

While we’ll see a lot of Darwin awards handed out, the cost in family, friends, community that make mistakes will be crushing.

The US population a century ago was a fifth of what it is now. The impact of 5% drug use on society, a difference of 4M vs 35M people, is a big deal.

5% is 5%. A bigger population is actually better able to deal with it. To have the more addictive personalities culled from the gene pool might actually improve the pool of survivors, and slow the trend towards idiocracy.

The way I look at it, we either unban drugs, or we execute drug dealers via an expedited trial and appeals process (3 years start to finish) and force drug users to detox. Anything in between is an expensive muddle and a resource drain.

People will adapt. Heir and a spare will evolve into heir and several spares.

I guess that’s next. You can have enough fentanyl to kill a city but you better not have a gun. Democrat priorities.

No, the resources involved are not proportional/straight line. There comes a point when the difference in sheer numbers becomes infinitely more problematic to manage....more exponential.

The trouble is that Democrats wouldn’t really want the freedom of that. First they’d want their share in the form of taxes and they’d still expect the taxpayers to pay for the (failed) rehab attempts.

I bet we get to pay for their “free” health care after they over-dose.

And take away guns so you can’t protect yourself from the druggies.

“The point is not the legal niceties, the point is we’ve learned through 40 years of a failed war on drugs that criminalizing addiction doesn’t work.”

The point is, societies have been battling all sorts of crime and the crime keeps going on. De-criminalize bank robbery, rape, murder, etc.?

The little sodomite is an idiot to boot. Well, if a man prefers a man, that is to be expected.

Most of drug users, especially in 19th century were upper class, wartime soldiers that got shot up with morphine or ill advised doctor’s prescription. It was around the 1920s where heroine and other hard drugs was distributed to the entire masses, especially to the lower class slums and white teens. That’s where the true headache started in this country and subsequently right after WW2

The Welfare State came into being, making your stupid decisions and their fallout my financial responsibility.

I’m all for all drugs one gives to themselves, as long as society pays no price.

3 years? How about the Zangara rule? 33 days from crime to execution. How that is expedited justice. And that was even when he didn’t hit the guy he was shooting at.

Of course. Drugs are the main tool for homosexuals to get what they want from people who wouldn’t otherwise be passive to that stinky sort of thing.
