There are currently 42,729 confirmed cases worldwide, including 1013 fatalities.
I’ve been warning of this for a couple of weeks.
IT NOW GETS REAL to the rest of the world, particularly Canadians.

Coronavirus: Turn off air-conditioners and open windows to reduce risk of being infected, say experts
Audrey TanScience and Environment Correspondent
SINGAPORE - On top of washing their hands and disinfecting surfaces, people need to switch off the air-conditioner, turn on the fan and get fresh air to reduce the chances of getting infected by the novel coronavirus.
The reason is that while many unknowns remain about the virus, earlier studies have shown that viruses thrive better in cool, dry climates.
That would make tropical Singapore, with its hot and tropical weather, less conducive for the virus to thrive.
Two Japanese men who were evacuated from Wuhan late last month have tested positive for the novel coronavirus after initially being cleared of the deadly disease, the health ministry said.

(Reuters) - Chinese President Xi Jinping warned top officials last week that efforts to contain the new coronavirus had gone too far, threatening the country’s economy, sources told Reuters, days before Beijing rolled out measures to soften the blow.

The MS Westerdam, which has more than 2,000 people on board, has now been denied entry by at least four different ports over fears of the Wuhan coronavirus. No cases of the virus have been confirmed on the ship.

As I understand it, there has been racial-specific bioweapon research. If this were a Chinese-specific virus the theory is that that would have been a step toward a vaccine China would have been developing so they could vaccinate their own population (or some portion of it, I suppose) against an offensive weapon that they released elsewhere in the world (such as in the US).
This was Francis Boyle’s explanation in an interview a couple of days ago, but because of the reported African victim, they were thinking that less likely to be the case.
A little late to the party, Director of WHO today:
The Wuhan coronavirus poses a very grave threat for the rest of the world, the head of the World Health Organization said Tuesday at the start of a two-day meeting in Geneva on the outbreak.

Flashback: January 23
It took them hours of debate over 2 days, but the World Health Organization (WHO) said that the Wuhan Coronavirus outbreak is not a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC). Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, PhD, director-general of the World Health Organization made the announcement today at a press conference.

Make sure you have several months of chicken food if you supplement their ‘free rangeness’.
Ditto pet food.
How many more like this?
They were not a production company as much as it was a buyers group. And I worked for one of them. They couldnt figure they way out of a room with the lights on and only one door.
I think it was to attack those who had not been given the SARS vaccine. But when it got out, it was worse on those people.
All rumor, and I would be careful with how much that is believed.
I would think a lot considering the test is only 30-50% reliable.

It seems I read a few years back that the more people catch a virus, the more likely it is to adapt. So, for example, even if the virus is more virulent in Asians now, (and the one study with the 8 samples is pretty weak, maybe there are others out there now), the more it infects people of other races, the more likely it is to adapt. Of course, after a while, it can become less virulent too, but Im not seeing that so far!
No problem on grain-type chicken food. Lots of local sources / producers / processors. Some deliver, can hit outside of 50 lb. bag with heat gun or disinfectant if paranoid. Plus our & Mom’s scraps, and if worse comes to worse, Asian Carp.* Only problem might be “Layer Pellets” - not sure where they are processed, but, this being an agricultural area with lots of “farm stores” (Tractor Supply, Rural King, etc.), not too worried. Might not even need, really - can smash up egg shells and feed ‘em fish for protein in non-buggy seasons.
Our cat is a good mouser, even takes down a squirrel now and then. Doesn’t even eat half of what she deposits on back porch. Might want to get 6 months extra flea treatment, tho’!
*Actually Asian Carp is an excellent food source for chickens and the cat, just need time to obtain “free”. Local processor (Chinese lady!) is up to over $5 / lb. from their retail operation - too pricey! Tasty if prepared well & low contaminants for all, but have not yet tried it in a pressure cooker to cook out the annoying-to-humans numerous small bones.
