If that’s the Ganges, I have been there @ Varanasi. It is like a vast open sewer. Floating dead animals and burnt human body parts. Human feces litter the paths and approaches to all the landings The river is considered ‘sacred’, people and sadhus ‘bath’ in that water daily. It’s insane. I was disgusted and appalled.

Uttar Pradesh is the most populous state in India. Over 200 million people. If it was an independent country it would rank just below Brazil.
It happens to be PM Narendra Modi’s constituency. Nearly every Indian PM had come from UP.
I was “present” for Obama’s Mumbai visit in 2010, and I think most would be surprised at just how much military support a POTUS visit to such a place includes. Not that any visit to such a place is ‘safe’, but India (along with ASEAN countries) is an important counterweight to China. We can’t just stay home, and Trump is certainly not a President willing to do so.
I do not like it when the president and First Lady leave the USA.
