HONG KONG (Reuters) - Hong Kong is evacuating people from a residential building in the New Territories district of Tsing Yi, where two people confirmed with coronavirus live though on different floors, authorities said early on Tuesday.
The director of the Centre for Health Protection, Dr Wong Ka-hing, said the government was investigating the suspected environmental transmission of two cases in the building.

Could be the new norm ...
Environmental Transmission ????
Egads! The buildings where people live in Hong Kong are gigantic! 1000s of apartments.

While moving them through the rest of the petri dish.
This is going to get out of control before long.
Houston, I have a bad feeling about this...
Nice building you have there. It would be a shame if something happened to it.
Infected sewage fumes vented through leaky exhaust pipe
Yes if you can smell it you are infected by it
A 62-year-old woman who resided in Cheung Hong Estate Hong Mei House in Tsing Yi was diagnosed with the novel virus on Monday making her the 42nd confirmed case in Hong Kong, according to the Department of Health. She lived 10 storeys below the 12th confirmed case, a 75-year-old man who lived in an apartment of the same number.
Any business you don’t like? Just spread the rumor they have the coronavirus!
If the virus can pass through apartment ventilation, China it will kill millions. This would be the worst possible news for China.
Shanghai government confirm coronavirus is aerosolized (different than droplets or airborne) Shanghai officials reveal novel coronavirus transmission modes Confirmed transmission routes of the novel coronavirus include direct transmission, contact transmission and ***aerosol transmission*** a Shanghai official said on Saturday.

This confirms what a CDC official told the daughter of an American couple on the quarantined Japanese cruise ship.
This also confirms other news reports:
Catching it within 15 seconds near an infected person
The incredibly fast spread on cruise ships
One infected person in a building, they lock the whole building down
Man catching it from infected person one apartment below
Large scale disinfection trucks, now N. Korea doing the same
The high level hazmat suit the people bringing the American expatriates home
The article about the virus being deep lung which is why it gets missed in tests of the upper respiratory tracts
The difference between airborne and aerosolized:
Airborne Droplet:
Droplets (greater than 5 um)
Remain only shortly in air (less than 17 min) [116].
Dispersed over short distances (less than 1 m).
Short range transmission.
Direct inoculation of naïve person through coughing/sneezing/breathing of infected person. Deposition mainly on mucous membranes and upper respiratory tract.
Aerosol:
Aerosols, droplet nuclei (less than 5 um),
Remain in air for an almost infinite amount of time. Dispersed over long distances (greater than 1 m).
Seems to me, like they need to figure out how to make buildings that don’t cycle the same air everywhere.
Or at least have filters and sanitizers built with disease prevention in mind.
You could put UV lights in the air ducts of buildings and cruise ships and kill most bacteria, fungi and viruses. That’s a cheap common sense approach.
I once even installed a UV light in the duct work of a house I lived in.
I think the PRC tried to unleash the coronavirus in retaliation for the situation Hong Kong
“Yes if you can smell it you are infected by it”
Meaning if an infected person farts and you smell it you’re toast.
*cut and paste silent but deadly joke here*

The Housing Department will inspect each flat overnight to check all exhaust vents.
Only residents living in rooms numbered seven of Hong Mei House will be evacuated. Wong said those who display symptoms will be sent to the hospital while those who do not will be transferred to quarantine centres for a few days.

Evacuate to where?Bring Out Your Dead
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.
I can feel it coming in the air tonight.
