I smoked for decades, so I do know. I was just like the person you described. I woke up to a bong hit before I even went to the bathroom, and did a couple hits as I was going to bed. That all changed when I came to the realization that I was financing terrorists. I quit and never looked back when I came to that realization, and had no withdrawal whatsoever. Cigarettes are mildly addicting, but more so a very powerful habit. That was much harder to break, especially since my wife still smokes to this day.

That being said, there was no legal pot when I quit so the pot available today might be more addicting than it was when I imbibed. When it comes to the pot available now, I too do not know. Either way, I now recommend that if you smoke, quit, and if you don't, don't start. I hold the same belief with alcohol, which in my eyes is even more destructive, unless one is a casual drinker who drinks quite rarely.

I smoked in the late 70s. I didn’t know it was supposed o be addictive. Don’t know anyone in my circle who was addicted. I quit when I got a job keeping people in jail for having pot. Peace officers shouldn’t be hypocrites.

Smoking anything is bad for you. I just don’t. Never did. I run marathons and I cage fight. I love beating people up.
