I read that excellent reminder years ago and I read it again when I feel discouraged.
This is exactly what the British thought in 1776. They had hundreds of ships equipped with cannons, lots of money to spend on military action, and lots of soldiers and ammunition. And then we won.
Don’t discount the possibilities of “primitive” warfare either Joe. Molotov cocktails, poison arrows and darts, booby-traps, catapults, and spears can do a lot damage.
Joe doesn’t realize there are lots of other things we could do. One is many people know how to make their own guns, explosives, aircraft, and armored vehicles. Another one is infiltration (we could infiltrate the military to learn plans and locations). We could also use bribery and spies to steal weapons. Another thing is we could get some right-thinking people to join us and bring us some weapons (like the Stinger shoulder-launched missile, rocket-propelled grenades, or bazookas).
Why Joe, someone might even be able to make their own dynamite or fertilizer bombs like this:
