Maybe this is off topic.

If you want to learn or observe something about how media works, you should compare this Maria interview with Rudy to a Laura Ingraham interview of Rudy. Absolutely a night and day difference.

Rudy is not an “instant response” type of interviewee. He takes a second to assemble his thoughts. Maria allows him to compose & respond. Laura, in contrast, begins a barrage of interruption if there even a fraction of a second gap between her last syllable and the start of the interviewee’s response. I like Laura but she’s acquired a severe case of Hannitus Interruptus that IMO makes her a sub-average interviewess. She’s immediately off onto something else or her own self-important snark if the interviewee isn’t talking over the last few words of her question. If there’s a momentary gap in the convo, she flips out. I find it quite irritating even though I like Laura. But her style makes it seem that if the guest isn’t understanding her question halfway through her question, the guest is an idiot and SHE’s the know-it-all.

Without making any kind if judgement on the validity of Rudy has uncovered with his in-country investigations in Ukraine; which I consider just staggering in their scope and scale; But leaving that aside......

The result is that after a Laura interview Rudy seems like a crackpot. I’m strictly pointing out how the style of the interviewer has a massive influence on the impression left with the viewer. And if you are going to watch these interviews, there has to be some consideration given to the effect of tempo and topic coherence.

Thank you for laying it out about what’s wrong with Laura Ingraham. She’s right on the issues but I find her so annoying. The sort of host who’d invite you to dinner and then eat from your plate.

Off topic, or not I agree with your assessment. Anymore I go so far as to get up, and walk out of the room, turn on the computer to FR. She drives me nuts with just what you explained.

You sure hit a bullseye with that observation.

#12. Best summation of Laura Ingraham’s rudeness and unprofessional conduct during interviews and questioning of panels of guests. You write like I think.

Well said, well done ASD.
