An attempt by Iran to launch a satellite into orbit failed Sunday, the Iranian state television outlet Fars reported Sunday evening.
A Simorgh or “Phoenix” rocket was used in the attempt to deploy the Zafar I communications satellite.
The launch failed to deploy the satellite into orbit, however, Iranian television reported, due to low rocket speed.
"It was launched with success and ... we have reached most our aims ... but the Zafar satellite did not reach orbit as planned," Fars reported.
The Simorgh rocket had been launched from the Imam Khomeini Spaceport in Semnan province, about 145 miles southeast of Tehran. The launch had originally been scheduled for Saturday, but was delayed to Sunday, with no public explanation given.
The failed launch is the latest blow to the Islamic republic’s space program, which has attempted to deploy satellites into space three times over the past year, making Sunday’s aborted launch the fourth failure.

I was trying to find an image from the Beverly Hillbillies, where Jethro straddles a rocket powered with Granny’s “medicine” and heads for the moon, where he thinks he’ll find moon maids. No luck.
The speed is important? Well, that explains why I was never able to launch a pizza into orbit. The damn thing always came back down.
Did it really fail to get a satellite into orbit or was it a test of the international rocket Iran needs to nuclear bomb our USA? Remember, lies are OK to deceive those who the radical Islamists want to kill or enslave.

Under the guise of a ‘space program’ nations can develop missiles to hit other countries. Orbit it not necessary.
