WASHINGTON—The Trump administration plans to request $2 billion in new funding for border-wall construction, significantly less than the amount it sought last year, in the budget proposal set for release Monday, according to White House officials familiar with the planning.
The smaller proposal, the officials said, reflects the fact that the administration needs fewer resources to build a wall along the U.S. southern border, as it has essentially met its funding goals by shifting money from the military toward construction.

The painstakingly developed, and heavily reviewed Comprehensive Plan, identified that about 1,100 miles of effective barrier are needed (along with thousands of full time positions, and several technology programs).
With this year's diversion of funds from the Military budget, the total number of miles expected to be funded in President Trump's first term, is now 885. Another 221 miles of the existing barrier (about 1/3 of what was there before) was assessed to be effective, totaling 1,106.
Completing all construction will take a year or more beyond the first term, but getting the money and putting it on contract is the Government's part of the job. Bonded and insured contractors, carefully pre-screened for capability, are then responsible for completing the work to specs. This Administration is now very clearly on track to get their part of the whole job done, in the first term.
Promise kept - in the face of incredible obstacles.

So, to look again at the numbers:
1100 miles are needed, because some of the border is already adequately protected.
885 (almost 900 miles) are funded, or under construction, or already exist.
200 more miles are needed, but will be funded this next year.
And no one will care...
I have been following the Border Wall Program closely, since Day 1 of the Trump Administration, and posting updates on Free Republic, to keep our community informed.
I wanted to report to you directly, that this reliable indicator now shows that Strategic success has been achieved.
President Trump has completed the heavy lifting required, and overcome everything that our opponents could do to sabotage it. The wall that we need, everything that the Border Patrol wanted, is now fully funded.
The rest is just the details of execution. The main, and decisive battle of the War has been won.

It comes down to the old question about someone would say something that just isn’t right.
Fool, or Knave (Liar)?
I don’t think she is a fool. I think she is deliberately trying to undermine President Trump with his base - a never Trumper, trying to disguise it as principled, just to be more effective at it.
Just like the mainstream media has done for decades, trying to maintain the illusion of credibility, while being completely partisan in their true objectives.
She is an attorney, and such attempts at rhetorical manipulation of jurors (and judges) is an all too common tactic, used in that profession.

It seems like USNORTHCOM, which monitors our air, space and maritime frontiers for threats, has stepped up its capability on the land borders as well - pretty clearly on the Mexican Border.
The clearest sign has been the the deployment of Military Predator drone units, spaced out along the Southern Border, which look like the are settling in for good.
Most of the effort, by design, likely seeks to avoid showing signs of what they are doing. The best stuff will naturally be classified Secret or Top Secret.
But after the President identified the Southern Border as a threat to be addressed in the National Military Strategy, a thousand “Iron Majors” (with caffeine-induced facial tics) on staffs in the Pentagon and the Major Commands within the Military, have been struggling to fill in the implementing details ever since. By now missions and resources have been designated to meet that threat, and it will have been institutionalized.
Lots of those around in lefty circles, so I hear.
Take back congress, hold the senate and WH and after Jan 1 2021, fund the rest of the wall and spend the next 4 years completing the wall.
