Not a good idea. Need a much younger constitutionalist who has at least some experience on the bench of an appeals court.. While he has had great success arguing several religious freedom cases before the Supreme Court he has no experience as a judge and any confirmation hearings would focus on his advocacy rather than his ability to be unbiased. Appointing someone that has been a close advisor to the President is simply an invitation to make it totally political. The battle will be hard enough without adding personal relationship issues.
A good point as well. I’m thinking that if we take back the House it would make all the difference. The Crats have been so busy destroying themselves, it will be a whole different landscape in 2021.
Someone who has experience as a judge and has a track record but is still relatively young. We don’t know all the things that the Democrats will do if and when they get back into power.
The soundbites from the radio program could be selectively culled in the most damning way. Amy Coney Barrett is most likely the next one just to stiff the femnists.
You really believe that SCOTUS appointments are not completely political? Which DemonRat Senator can you name who will vote for a a nominee who pledges to be limited in his or her decisions by the US Constitution.? Do you really believe that ABA ratings of nominees is anything but political? There are in fact Obama Judges (of which Roberts is one) who are purely partisan when it counts.
Judicial experience isnt a big deal to me. In fact, when I look back over the court opinions of the last 50 years, Ive concluded that wed probably get more coherent, lucid legal opinions from a Supreme Court comprised of nine plumbers and truck drivers.
