On Friday’s “PBS NewsHour,” New York Times columnist David Brooks said that the State of the Union Address was President Trump’s “most effective speech as president.” And that running on a strong economy is the president’s “best campaign.”
Brooks stated, “I actually thought it was his most effective speech as president. He had some of the stuff he has always had, which is, these bogus stories of crimes that immigrants have committed. But if you go back to his campaign in 2016, it was an American carnage campaign. It was all crime. It was all fear. It was all division. But now he has turned — and I think he’s done a little bit of — as — the best he can do with his character, morning in America, just bragging on the economic success we’ve had as a country over the last years, which he’s absolutely correct about. … And if he can run a campaign as, hey, you don’t have to like me, but I can deliver a good economy, that, to me, is his best campaign. And he then follows it up with gracelessness. But if his approval rating stays at 49, people seem to be willing to tolerate gracelessness.”

When I read something like that I first think they’re spreading disinformation. But I also wonder whether it’s possible these completely-insulated media people really are just plain ignorant about what goes on outside their bubble.
One does wish Mr. Brooks would meet up with an illegal alien criminal who likes his shoes in some dark parking lot...

Brooks is a classic inside-the-Beltway Never Trumper. His sidekick on this program, Mark Shields, is an over-the-top Trump-hating leftist, and Brooks has to appear somewhat “reasonable” to the Shields crowd. Both are aghast at how Trump reacted “vindictively” post impeachment acquittal, without getting the concept that Trump wins precisely because he always fights back against the RINO/progressive hacks that sit at desks bloviating on PBS and other Marxist outposts on Planet MSM.
Brooks and every one of his elitist NeverTrump fans should be victims of such “bogus” crimes.
Just have to get that dig in at the end. Well, it is PBS.

That looked like 300 pounds of muscle to me. The whole family looked like ‘strong men.’ Certainly, I hope, your comment was not intended to cast any ‘shade’ on him.
He should have eliminated all the mealy-mouthed blather and just said, “ I thought Trump acquitted himself rather well.”
