Democrats are paving Trump’s road to reelection
Washington Post ^ | February 5, 2020 | David Von Drehle

Posted on 02/08/2020 2:34:54 PM PST by Albion Wilde

If, next January, Donald Trump takes the presidential oath for a second time [snip] his road to reelection will have started in these busy, perhaps fateful, few days of early February, when Trump’s audacious flair for self-promotion converged with the bumbling of Democrats to produce an explosive campaign launch. [snip]

His State of the Union speech was a lethally effective exploitation of the presidential bully pulpit. Did he overstate his accomplishments? Yes. Did he understate the record of his predecessor? Yes. Is that unusual in a campaign-year State of the Union? No.

But no previous address so cunningly adapted the ancient ritual of a formal speech to the visceral medium of television. A former TV star himself, Trump understands that people don’t just listen to what the president says. They also watch the reactions of the people in the room. He engineered the speech to force his opponents to react in potentially self-defeating ways....

How did this deeply cutting critique of the Democrats' ineptitude even get published in the WaPo? Pigs are flying...

Trump’s greatest strength is probably his understanding of human nature and an ability to predict their reactions to words, events, circumstances, etc....

BFO (Blinding Flash of the Obvious), but even the Washington Post has figured it out. What is the technical term for, “deep doo doo”?

It’s one of those really bad times when the DNC’s stenographers have to use their papers to try to “coach” them back into order, so they can get back to the propaganda.

The Dems have done it to themselves. Nobody forced them to take their extreme positions. Trump is simply smart to make sure that those positions are no longer hidden by the media.

Also, I don't believe he understated Obama's accomplishments. They were either so bad or nonexistent.

And, from the looks of the trucks on the highways I don't believe he is overstating the present economy or his accomplishments.

Trumo left Fordham for Penn at the end of his sophomore year. So he missed the oppotunity of experiencing Marshall McLuhan. I did not miis the opportunity, but I bet like me Trump read Understanding Media. It is a work of brilliance, using historical people and events toemphasize that how we get the message is important and that a medium can send multiple messages at the same time. The Post’s author here recognizes Trump’s abilities in being able to do this. He read and took to heart the truths in Understanding Media: the medium is the message. And as a follow on I would bet someone introduced him to John Boyd’s OODA Loop.

Pelosi repeatedly says she prays for Trump.

Do you think it’s Satan, Lucifer, or just the old standard; the devil she prays to?

Its kind of hard to hand wave the misplays of the Democrats as it played out last week. It was a terrible week for that party.

Trump has the advantage right now, but once the Dem nom is chosen, it will be up to that campaign to make the case against Trump and Trump will still have to sweep a lot of purple states.

How did this deeply cutting critique of the Democrats' ineptitude even get published in the WaPo? Pigs are flying...

It's the left wing media publicly scolding the dem political machine for being inept and to get their act together unless they want to lose big in November.

The left is imploding under their own ideology, hate, and insatiable hunger for power.

The so-called party with a "heart" is now the heartless party. Socialism/Progressive Communism is so transformative.

I think she is Biblically illiterate, a cultural Christian, a CINO (Catholic in name only).

“Trump’s greatest strength is probably his understanding of human nature and an ability to predict their reactions to words, events, circumstances, etc....”

And the Rats (Socialists/Communists) greatest weakness is their disdain of human nature. As a result they are constantly on the warpath to want to change it by force.

And all the “compassionate” bleeding hearts are their army of “well meaning” useful idiots.

The combination of the Iowa caucuses fiasco and Nancy Pelosi's petulant behavior during the State of the Union speech turned off WAY too many voters.
